    Give me a break !

My 10 year old son and I were looking for an answer which we found on this board. While I appreciate the knowledge and experience of this board, why must there be smilies that are so crude ? I didn't spot them but my son did. A smiley giving another smiley a blow job and the resulting blue liquid coming out.

Come on, give me a break. Who gives a F***

How rediculous ! If some sick folks need that kind of stuff that's their business but I can't even get way from them. Is there a way to turn them off so that I can actually allow my kid to sit with me at the computer ? Moderators ? Any ideas here ?

I believe the only thing to do would be go to "User CP" at the top, "Edit Options", then uncheck "Show images"

    hopefully others will chime in

I just saw this. I agree 100%. That BJ smiley isn't even on the "More" section. It's right to the right of me as I'm typing this up. This freedom of speech crap has gotten out of hand. It's the excuse now to do whatever you want w/o respect to others. I shouldn't have to set my remote control with cable to block out channels. It should be the other way around. They should not be visible until I ADD them on with the remote! You can't watch TV late with your young kids because some regular channels suddenly have Girls Gone Wild commercials running with two Lesbos making out and feeling up on each other. Yeah, I know they look great but that's no excuse for having them so easily visible to kids.

as a responsible adult you should know better than to place your 10yr old son anywhere near the internet.

Schools have specific systems to block sites with mis-content. @ home this is your responsibility.

The ability to express is given, Intent is based per user.
attempting to harbor your child from real life, should be considered a crime.

I fully understand that this website can be specific to adults or children.
Or at least people who can read & follow/understand @ minimum the rules outlaid by clubprotege when registering.

"Although the administrators and moderators of Club Protege will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of Club Protege, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message."

"By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws."

Alltho we do not all abide by this, the above section covers those who don't follow.

calm down,it's pretty common on a lot of forums, simply because the "standard" smileys have become more than boring during the time...i mean,it's <<smileys>>... colourful creatures who only have a head, 2 eyes and the body part to display a particular action... this is not porn, this is not really something to ban, it's just a little vulgar from time to time..

i believe VBulletin does have an option NOT to display the choice of smileys during editing/writing a message, but i'm afraid it lacks the option to turn smileys (only them) off in other peoples' posts?

(if i think about it..it would be really easy to patch the board software to do this, but i'm only good at phpbb, i don't know crap about vb)

Geez, sombady wants to live in a totalitarian society. I got an idea, leave th USA, the freedoms we have died for, get a visa to Sudan or China, and back to me on that problem with freedom of speech. Seems like you are advocating government censorship. WHOA there! 1984 was a book bro, not something we wanna practise in reality. I don't know how you were raised, but I was not allowed to watch Showtime/HBO/Cinemax without my parent's consent, and staying up late watching TV was NEVER an option.
It makes me sick how parents always blame everyone else, everything else for their own lack of parental guidance.

                    "It was the video games!"
"No, it was the rock/rap music!"
Umm, no, it was the SMILIES that corrupted my child!"
Dammit, I need a scapegoat! Where's Marilyn Manson!!!"

When are parents going to admit that "It was my lack of parental supervision/involvement in my child's life that allowed my child to be corrupted!" I witnessed many things bad or scary or disgusting or morally reprehensible or sexual in movies, on television, and in video games as a child. But my father taught me to differentaite between fantasy and reality, fiction and non fiction, good and bad, right and wrong. No matter how many hours of violent, disgusting, sexual entertainment your child can witness, none of it pales in comparison to a solid foundation of parental guidance and discipline. OK, my venting is done.

I have one word for your above post: garbage. The reason you want to blame us parents is to continue excusing more and more freedoms of speech beyond what is reasonable. I guarantee you have your own limit. 20 years from now that limit will be the norm and you will disagree with it. Some guy will consider you a moron for thinking that way. About the poor parenting thing, the more crap that's allowed to be put on TV, and everywhere else, means that we have to keep our eyes more and more on our kids. A parent's quality of life gets worse and worse as our little free time becomes NONE thanks to you guy's.laws. At one time, you could send your kid to the neighbor's house and be in peace because they had a decent mom. Now, that mom is so busy, she doesn't realize the older son is watching GGW on cable or satellite and your younger kid might end up in that room seeing it before it's healthy for him to. Your solution to that would be to just not let the kid over to the other house. That's the cost of not creating "censorship". Well calling that "censorship" is an exaggeration. I'm ready for you on this one with my dukes up! Hit me with your best shot. This thread is going to last a LONG time.

That is merely my opinion based upon my life experiences and observations. I cannot live my life looking for a scapegoat to take the blame for my own shortcomings. What you do with your own problems is on you. And there's no need for me to carry on, since after reading many of your posts, we are gonna get nowhere. I must cordially disagree and let it be. Cheers!

yeah.........just because you can raise a "good" child after they have been exposed to such things, do you really want to have them exposed to such things?

"OK billy go watch violent snuff/rape films over at Jason's house and when you get back we'll discuss why they are bad."
