my #3 piston ring needs to be replaced. Where can I get a set of rings? I figure if im in there why not replace em all for security when i put my turbo on this engine. Thanks!

ive decided to actually to a rebuild on my engine before I turbo it, just because it has 113,xxx miles on it and its a little worn out. I called the dealership and they told me they have a rebuild kit, which consists of pistons, rings, and all gaskets and seals but for $869.99 Is that a normal price for that? Anyone else know where to get a kit like that for cheaper? I dont want the miata pistons as I want lower comp pistons for my turbo. Thanks!

The dealer will always gouge on the prices. You should be able to peice the rebuid kit together for SIGNIFICANTLY less.

IMO, you shouldn't need to go to lower compression pistons if the system is setup properly. With proper management, it's not necessary (that all depends on how much boost you're planning to run, too)

When I said lower comp pistons, I was referrring to the miata pistons. They are 10:1. I was lpanning on using the stock pistons, just dont know where to get them.

ok look if you want to got turbo grab a set of sohc pistons. 8.2:1 compression which is much more "boost accomdating"

As for piston rings... dude just because the say "aftermarket" does not make them better
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?
