    specs on Tracer LTS

i have one, but i don't know much about it.
I really hated the car at first.
in the first 4 weeks it was in shop 4 times! overheating, bad wires, etc.
but it was only small things.
since then the car has been running awesome. I drive it pretty hard.
I am amazed at how well it drives on the local backroads.
I even got second in my first autocross event! with a blown shock and almost no clutch.
I still have those 2 problems
they knda slow me down at times, but the car itself drives very neutral, has decent power and the short wheelbase is great.

I didnt plan on keeping the car at all. But now I started to like it and wanted to start a little project with it.
mostly i wanna do suspension mods and some engine.

    but i wanted some specs.

    weight,
engine specs. I oot the basics, 127HP BP-ZE.
but how can i make it perform better, what cheap oem alternatives are there for pistons, etc. and other internals. as im under the impression that the miata shares the same engine.
it will most likely be a 2k$ project.
i dont wanna go drastic or anything.

how much is decent aftermarket and flywheel assembly?
    engine specs?
    - compression
    - iron/alu block
    - other facts
    vehicle weight?
    - what companies offer suspension parts, from shocks, to braces and swaybars, etc.
    - who makes engine stuff.
    - the usual bolt ons, intake, exhaust, headers, etc.
etc. etc. anything you guys can come up with that will help me make it a nice backroad and autocross car.

This car is essentially the same as the Escort GT and the Mazda Protege LX. You will find lots of info on here. There is a lot you can do to suspension and engine. Most people turbo the motor to have substantial gains or swap in a JDM turboed one.

Compression is 9:1 on the stock motor you have in there and yes it does share some parts with the 1.8L miata.

Look up www.corksport.com for some ideas

i am kinda newb to the car.
I am not really sure what i am looking for.

is my car 1st, 2nd gen car?
i am not sure on some of the terms, such as for the transmission specs and stuff.
i wish it said "also mercury tracer LTS" or something lol.

your car is the equivalent of a 1st gen mazda protege, it is based on the BG mazda chassis.

however, it also falls into the category of the 2nd generation tracer/escort. they kind of bounced the names around in relation to chassis styles.

the 1st gen tracer was based on the mazda BF chassis, aka 89- mazda 323.

and even though your tracer is the same as a 2nd gen escort, the 1st gen escort had 0% mazda, it was an all ford drivetrain and chassis. nothing at all in common with the 1st gen tracer. weird eh?

I have seen one of those lips on another tracer thats for sale.
But first id rather fix the probs.
I need a new gauge cluster.
the tach, doesnt work right, the fuel gauge is off.
clutch, and some other little things.

i wish a had a tracer lts. I like the way they look better then the escort. But im stuck with a trio with a blown tranny. Literally anything that works on a protege lx will work on your tracer, apart from body panels. the protege dx has a different engine/drivetrain so that stuff wont work.

Also if you havent already go to corksport.com they have a very good assortment of go fast ( or as i call it give the law enforcment money parts)
