Instead of geting a gtx engine wouldn't it be cheaper to get an lx and bolt the turbo/intercooler etc. up to the engine and produce 180hp? or are the internals different?

Negative... and to answer the original question... no it will be more expensive to turbo your existing BP than it is for a GTX swap. Or at least to do it right anyway.
the gtx comes with a stronger bottom end --> but then you can but forged pistons in your current BP.
the gtx comes with the turbo and manifold--> but then you will have to buy the turbo and manifold for your BP + downpipe
you get all the intercooler pipping on the front clip. --> you may not with just the motor delivery so you may have to fabricate that.
So far I spent
375 --> motor
400 --> turbo and many
intercooler --> free
75 --> GTR injectors
about 100+ --> bov
75 or so --> for pipping
FMU -->?
haltech in future (or whatever) 1300 (in future)
50+ --> oil lines
plus whatever comes up in the mean timeLast edited by bruce95fmla; 11-17-2003, 01:33 PM.
