Some sort of oil from brakes?

Ok so i got out of my car today and stopped to check out my hotness of a car, and saw some black liquid on my rims. I touched it to see what it was and it feels like oil. I didnt have time to investigate where it may have come from, but any ideas?

If it was brake fluid it'd be clear/yellowish in color. I'd say it's coming from your strut. It may be leaking oil.

If it is a leaky caliper or break line get that **** fixed asap. Brake fluid will eat the finish off of your rim, I found out the hard way. IIRC when I had a leaky caliper the fluid did appear a brownish black color. Axle greese would be a bit more sticky and a thicker consistancy and would most likely coat the entire inside of the rim. Check around your brake lines and caliper to see if you can spot a leak, check the struts for the same. Look for wet spots.

i'd be looking at your strut. when i blew my rear struts my whole back assembly was coasted in black grease. or like Jessesaid CV similiar grease.
