This month's ROTM is Tjay. He has one of the nicest and cleanest 323. It's a beautiful example that people should follow when putting a 323 together. I would like to be the first to say congraduations on the win.
I started into car seen ever since I was young. I'd say around 6 years old. My Dad told me that when I was at that age I know all the cars make and model that every time the cars passes by while we were inside the car I can name each and everyone of them.
He use to bring to autocross and carshows back in the Philippines until I was 14 years old. It doesn't matter if it was prototype cars, vintage, or the new cars he loves cars so much that I end up loving it too.
Before I left the Philippines in 1995 when I was only 15, my Dad had a '94 Mazda 323 Astina BF that had the BP motor except it had a carburetor not EFI. I was taught to when I was 12 and had my own car when I was 14 without license, My Dad had a company and money to pay if something bad happen like gets pulled over and such so no need for license At the time I was running a '92 civic hatch eg w/ 14" gunmetal/polish rims and my Dad had the car lowered for me. Mind you I was only 14 when I own the car.
When I got here in the US my Mom told me if I go to school here in California she will buy me a miata or corvette. When I was in the Philippines I didn't give a **** about the corvette. I told her to buy me miata instead because it fits me being short After staying here in US for a year she knew that I have no plans on going back home she said. " I can not buy you a car especially not the ones I told you" I told her that's fine just get me something to use to school and she did. She bought me a $300 '76 corolla and I fell in love with that car that I actually end fixing it up until one asshole laughs at me for driving my car every time I pass by the school in highschool. Then at 17 I was able to afford to buy a new '97 civic ex. With this car I had trophies that I got from HIN and such but end up selling it after watching the Fast and the Furious because there's just way too much hater and my ticket was sky high that I almost had to go to the court every month not for street racing but just for having a car like that (discrimination) I was bald headed Filipino dude w/ a lowered civic and this was in the 90's .
After owning 4 types of corolla including 2 trueno's (when trueno wasn't as hot item) amd 2 civics I moved to mazda and been there ever since '01 amd I like it a lot (1st gen only tho )
I remember the first time I saw this 323 in Las Vegas. It was so clean that after that trip I sold my civic and bought this $850 323 and from then on the saga continues...
I've had the 323 ever since Aug 1st. It is now Oct. 3. Only two months in the making. It's not done yet but compare to most 323 I think mine is in a different level already .
