I moved to Alaska 1 month ago, tore my baby apart.

Ill be in Alaska for the next 9months to a year working up here saving money with my wife (of 2 months) so we can come back to oregon and have a nice dp on a house and some money in the bank... we are on salary running a store for 36k a year, housing is paid for, food is paid for, we dont have cars or insurance... we do have some snowmobiles we can use and thats gas out of our pockets, but the rest will be going into our account.

There is a job in the town im in that pays about 48k a year that will be starting up about april next year that im going to try to get on at (it will last about 6 months then the project should be done). that will put another 20k or so into our pockets, while she continues to work at the store for 1500 a month... In all we sould be able to pocket about 40k just this year if that job pans out (its dependant on the employee count but being a "local" i have just as good a chance as any other local. we plan on comming up the next year where we should be able to pocket another 12-14k and then the year after is WAY to far into the future to even think about, with how things change.

ultimately i plan on finding a house with a shop... i still have ALL my turbo kit, another motor, and 2 spair trannys, so im in good standings to make another boosted bg for really cheap. only if it works out to where i have a shop and a daily driver, i can do it RIGHT, and not getto rig it because it has to be back on the road.... i hated the fact that alot of work done to my escort was repair work because i would do something then have to get it done asap to go to work so i would slap it together then weeks later i would spend my free time undoing the getto and doing it right (PITA)

right now i just need to make it through this year though and go from there.

i must fix some of my information i gave because i was corrected by a worker at the place ill be trying to get on at, he gave me a pay stub for 1989 and change (after taxes, it was like 2660 before) for 1 week of work and it was only like 67 hrs, they regularly work 70 and even 80 hr weeks (working 7 days a week)

so if i got on there for 6 months i could easily bring home 40k after taxes... i hope i can get on... otherwise there is another construction company that is working they pay a bit less so they are getting the bum pick of the workers... the boss of the big one that i want to get on at came by and sat and watch the other company work... he then confronted all the guys that worked hard and asked them if they wanted a better paying job with benifits (the other one doesnt offer benys). so the lesser paying job has all the town drunks working for them... but the guy i was talking to tonight told me he worked for the lesser paying job 2 years and brought home 56k in about 1.5 months more than it would take at the better paying place...

so basically if you followed any of that, i should be able to bring home about 40-50k this fall-summer-winter while my wife is making 1500 a month ontop of that. all straight into the bank!

House with a shop and a turbo bg HERE I COME!... i told kimberly i just want an separate heated shop with electricity... and i told her then all i need is a 2 post lift and ill be set! I dont think a 3-5k dollar lift is too much to ask when my back will be the one being broken when the repairs need to be done

eh right now we have daylight from about 9am-530pm at its worst (dec22nd) we will only see about 2.5 hrs of daylight and like an hr total of dawn and dusk.

its awesome right now, we have 3 snowmobiles to use and 3 quads and one Mule (4x4 golf cart basically) at our disposal.

its about -10 during the day and about -30 at night right now. its really now as bad as i thought it was going to be... i can still run out and spend 15 min outside in a t shirt loading a vehicle or doing something else... it is REALLY cold but its not too cold to do that.

yeah in the dead of summer they really dont get dark... there is like and hr of sunset and sunrise where the sun dips just below the horizon (i have yet to be up here at that time yet... but my fiance was up here the last 4 summers).

thus the reason for movies like insomnia (robin williams and robert deniero (i believe))

it will be nice especially when im working for brice (the company up here) because ill be working 10-12 hrs a day 7 days a week for about 6 months and during the summer ill still be able to get out and enjoy the outdoors instead of going to work when its dark and comming home when its dark.

The yukon river just stopped flowing last night... well not exactly but there has been huge chunks of ice flowing down the river for the last 3-4 weeks and it finally backed up and froze over last night so there is a solid layer of ice over the river. its weird because litterally from our living room, kitchen, dining room we look out the windows that are along the whole front wall of the house and we are looking at the yukon. its about 150 feet from our front door.

i dont know if yall care but i have some pictures up on photobucket... the bottom of pg 2 is looking out the front windows of our house about a week ago.
