    Coming Soon (hopefully) MX-3 GTR

Well I thought I'd finally put up some pic of the bp build and AWD conversion I'm doing to my MX-3. Here is a quick list of what's been done so far

    cylinder Head:

    1mm oversized SS valves

    port and polish

    port match

    Block:

    overbore

    10:1 Wiseco forged pistons

    B6T rods

    balanced crank/rods/pistons/pully

    Misc:
    ARP head studs
    Powdercoated valve cover
glass beaded oil pan and cylinder head
Miata ECU with Greddy Emanage Ultimate
    Pace Setter Header
I will be picking up the cylinder head in a week or two they aren't open on weekends and the shop is an hour and a half from where i live so as soon as i have it i'll post pics

    More to come

As to the AWD I drove to toronto canada and picked up a GTR transmission and complete rear subframe.

Rear subframe bolted on to the custom frame rails we built

Had to cut out the spare wheel well also add thick metal sheets on top where the bolts go through for mounting the rear subframe to distribute the stress from power going to rear wheels

    Suspension:
Right now i have GC coil overs waiting to go, no struts yet
I am considering Fully adjustable sleeved coilovers from www.sellisengineering.com just gotta save up a while

First time I've ever seen any pictures of your work. Looks good!

Why are you using a Pacesetter header on a GTR?

engine isn't a gtr, its a protege bp that i have built up... it will be getting turbo later on, but i ran across a header for really cheap and thought i'd use that till i can afford to do a turbo right

well i got my gtr strut bar in today and installed it on my white mx-3 to test it out.. it won't close... not sure if it is because of my carbon fiber hood or what so i'm going to try it out on my black one next week and see if the hood will close with it installed

i was planning on it... is there a reason aside from keeping the heat inside the headers?

if you use heat wrap on it, it will rust faster. if you want to trap the heat in and have it look nice and last a while go with a coating.... i cant remember the brand/company at the moment :-/.. jethot maybe?

keeping the heat in improves exhaust gas scavenging in the exhaust and keep underhood temps down. wrapping only causes header to rust if you dont seal the wrap wrap it then paint it with hightemp exhaust paint and cure it properly and no problems.

wrapping also makes a header tend to crack at the head flanges and the collector about twice as fast. i wouldnt do it on a cheap piece of crap like a pacesetter. if its just going to be a cheap temporary thing id get some ceramic paint and paint the thing two or three times.
