Hi, about that v6 or v8 engine swap...

I hear a lot about it, and they told me to come over here (FEOA)

I am not the best "Search" demon, is only reason i made a new thread.

Basically, looking for the most powerful engine i can drop in my car('94 escort sedan) - pics in sig, currently sanding/bondo, and going in for black paint :p

Anyways, once the paint is done, this swap is next on my list. At first from what some said, the v6 on an SHO taurus might work, but lots are saying it won't. 220hp, in my car, would be pretty sick...

Wondering what the strongest engine(or a list of a few) i could put in here, conversions, and all that won't be hard with the people i have access too... (Be best if they didn't have to mess around with the axis though, from what they told me :D)

-I was looking for a "new to the forum" page or something, like FEOA has, but didn't find one, so, sorry to pop out of nowhere and ask, but Hi :p

The KLDE and KLZE 2.5L V6 motors swap in... the most powerful makes 200hp at the crank. The BP swaps in your car directly and the BPT is a turbo version of the motor and people have pulled 200+hp at the wheels out of it.

I run a BP turbo with upgraded turbo and a bunch of goodies and make 250+hp at the wheels.

Forget about the SHO motor ... hard to put in and unreliable.

People from PR are putting down 600 HP with the BP. So I've heard anyways. BP will be the easiest swap too. Look up my other thread for suppliers, http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/show...ight=bp%2Fbp-t.

If your looking for V8, I'd try a mustang gt 5.0 HO. Than put a vortec supercharger on that bitch.
Too bad I have AWD and you don't!

First off, welcome to Club Protege.

Secondly, screw a V6 or V8 for that matter. Just stick with a 4 banger and turbo it. I'd start by dropping a BP into your car, and go from there.

Well, like i said, to swap won't be a big deal, looking for an easy way to get about 200hp... but i wouldn't mind little more :D

Turbo'ing would be a lot of cash though, no? - Kind of looking for a decent price way to get near double my hp (currently 110ish?) - If it means turbo'ing my current one... i guess that's possible too, but my tranny prolly won't handle it haha, plus i thought it would be easier(and cheaper) to get an engine that is more powerful without turbo'ing it up. (Then maybe in the long run drop a turbo on it later )

The BP is basically a stock engine that swaps in? How much HP on those puppies?

Hmmm, nice, the first one on that list, the package... i'd def get if it was a little more hp :p

This: 1.8L T4ycl (BPturbo) from the GTR, fit into mine no problem? - ~~210hp, basically what i was shooting for, ~220hp, so that's not bad. That package on this page ( http://corksport.com/store/item/tpzz...m_the_GTR.html ) all i need to hook it up?

Hmmm, turbo's are kind of a hassle i hear... was looking at:

                http://corksport.com/store/item/tnmh..._V6_KL-ZE.html - 197hp - Cept would need tranny, ecu/wiring, and mounts

im in the middle of my kl03 v6 swap in my 94 escort wagon.Im most likely goin to run some minor bolt ons and a healthy 75 wet shot. That should be plenty of power for your escort. If you plan on waiting till spring to do the swap i can give you some numbers from the dragstrip when i go.

You could order from Corksport if you dont mind waiting about a year for them to find a GTR. You could find a nice BP get it all worked over and put in a sweet hybrid turbo before they found a GTR. =P

The BP is the engine that comes in the 91-96 EGT/Escort LX-E, Tracer LTS, 90-94 Protege LX/GT, and 94-97 Kia Sephia GS. You would want the tranny too. It has 125 hp, 114 ft-lbs of tq.

They are simple and efficient to turbo, and it can be done for very little.

If you want to get the most power for your dollar, a turbo is the way to go.

Sounds good, we'll have to see, once the exterior looks good, next job is the engine/tranny, and anything else under the hood i might work on.

Going to have to see what kind of exspenses i have with this out of the way, been spending a little here and there that seemed to have added up, plus with the purchase of a suit for homecoming... :p Once exterior done, and looks like my money is just stacking up, i'll def be looking for something to spend it on :D

What's next on the exterior, paint? Needs to be lowered too.
