New here but not to Escorts or Mazdas

Some of you may know me from other boards such as FEOA, Mazda323performance, ERDT, and the list could go on and on. Well I have been on this board for quite a while and decided it would be a good time to post an intro. I am Jeremiah I live in Jacksonville, AR. I am in the Air Force and am an Aircraft Maintainer. To get more specific I work avionics systems. I am a FORD/Mazda nut and love cars in general just like im sure a lot of us do. My current project car is a 93 Escort GT. It was a daily driver until I launched a rod. The car right now is pretty much stock aside from suspension, wheels, and some other things. Here are some pics of it. I know they are kinda blurry. I am waiting to get an engine in so I can take more pics. I have some cash to throw around and plan on purchasing a GTX engine as soon as I make the decision on which company to go with. Right now all sources point to Corksport. Any suggestions are welcomed with who or what I should go with on my car. Thank you Jeremiah

Oh and here is a picture of me....

    Welcome to Club Protege Jeremiah.

    Nice EGT.

I've had good luck with CS, and would recommend them. There are a variety of places where you can get a BP-T from though. Just keep your eyes open.

I like what you're doing with the car, you're kinda following the same idea that I am, making it clean looking. I'm interested to see how it'll turn out when you paint it.

Got my GTX engine through JSA. Should be here tomorrow. Really happy with the service so far and the shipping. Only 2 days to ship. See what kind of shape its in tomorrow, hopefully I wont be too tired to get a good look at it.

one thing i would reccomend (that i didnt do :/) is to run a compression test on it right away, just to be safe. i'm sure someone on here knows what proper compression should be on a GTX motor. that way if its bad, you can get another one in the warranty period. i'm kind of taking a gamble on mine hehe

Mine will be installed and running before the warranty period is over. Thanks for the heads up though. I get it here in a couple hours and plan on having it tore down and reassembled to be able to just stab it into the car. Also plan on starting the wiring and get that done with. I will get pics of everything when it comes in.

Well I have hit some snags as of right now. It looks like Water got down into the intake and into the turbo. As of right now I have the intake pulled off and luckily it didnt get down past the runners. The turbo is off and I just need to pop off the casing on the cold side and clean it up. Clean up the intake put it back on with new gasket and get the turbo cleaned up and back on the engine and I should be ready to roll. Oh im also gonna change the timing belt. As of right now everything else looks good other than corrosion on just about everything external. I sprayed it all down with WD 40 and that is taking a lot of the corrosion off of the aluminum parts and cleaning up a lot of the rust on the block and what not. I am gonna start on the wiring this week. With the engine I got everything. Complete harness with all sensors including the fuse box and the VAF meter. I am really happy with the engine so far. Now its time to get it into the car.

apparantly there is something funky with the fuel pump wiring when using a full GTX harness. so just watch out for that i guess... i cant give you much more advice about it as i have not dealt with it myself

Due to lack of info, resources, and giving a damn I have decided to just run the GT Harness. It seems a lot easier. If need be later down the road I can run the wires for the extra sensors that the GT harness doesnt have but right now I want to get this car running. The ECU is in the car now and I am just waiting for some gaskets and other things to come in from Autozone. Quick question what Oil would you suggest running in this engine??? Thank you, Jeremiah

i'd say run some quality 10w30. whether you want to go with dino oil or synthetic is up to you and your wallet. stick with K&N, purolator, or OEM mazda oil filters. buy them for a 94 MX6 V6, it has more filtration area but fits the same.
