    KL Swap tach issues...

ok, i did the KLDE swap on my car, everything is great, besides a tiny CEL issue... but other then that i am completely satisfied. However one day i decided to hook my tach up (due to time constraints in getting the car done i never did so)... after hooking it up it did exactly what i expected, read it as a 4 cylinder ignition. So i was just doing the simple conversion factor of .6666 (4/6) to achieve the actual RPM. Upon getting my dad's MACtools Multi-tester that reads RPM, i hooked it up to my car and tore the dash apart, knowing there is an adjuster to tune the tach.

after getting the tach out i realized there isn't a whole lot of adjustment, and it did not adjust far enough to fix the issue. I was wondering if anyone knew what resister needs to be replaced on the back of the tach board to allow it to read the 6 cylinder effectively. I have attached some photos to look at and will later make up a jpeg that maps out the locations of each, due to the pictures not revealing the numbers clearly... thank you in advance

BTW, this is in an escort/tracer... just so there isn't any confusion

no info out there on this? i might snag a tach out of a stock kl vehicle to test the resistors on that and trace the board and see if i can tell what is the difference... worth a shot i guess

I am going to do a V6 swap into my Protege eventually, and I settled on two options to get the tach working correctly. One, I found a tach signal adapter for 6 cyl's in 4cyl cars. I guess the VW guys use these for their VR6 swaps. My second option was to just grab a Mazda V6 cluster of similar vintage to my Protege and check to see if the PCB could be swapped, or maybe the entire tachometer drive assy.
