stupid speakers

Well I have a set of 5x8's and a set of 6x9's from my last car and it would appear that the protege is full of 6 1/2's. how much of a project are we talkin here to fit em in? If its way too complicated i'll just sell what I have and get 6 1/2's

what size are the rear deck speakers? I mean worst thing you'll have to do is cut the holes bigger. It is possible but if your not comfortable doing the work its be cheaper and easier to replace with factory size speakers.

all for locations apear to be 6 1/2 rounds. Im fine with hacking stuff up but im not a big fan of cutting into metal support structure of the car. Could cutting into this area cause problems to the rigitity of the chasis? Meh I think im just gonna put an add up on craigslist and try to sell em and get the right size...im lazy

Mine rear holes are cut to fit 6x9s have been that way for like 10 years. Seems fine to me. =]

did you use a Dremel or a jigsaw to cut out the holes?

I didnt do it, thats how I got the car. But it looks like they used a jigsaw.

a jigsaw is the best but probley hard to get in that tight of a spot...

The front speakers are 5.25" and the rear are 5.25" as well, but 6.5" will fit in the rear deck no problem.

I wouldn't advise hacking up your car just to fit speakers you already have. That's welfare.

I have listed the speakers on craigslist and hopefully I will sell em so I can buy the right size

Yeah just get good 6.5's and save yourself the effort. Speakers aren't that expensive anyway (unless you get into components).

lol, thats ok. They came outta a Nissan pathfinder I used to own. The truck is junk and I wanted to save them cause I payed a decent coin for em. I checked out prices on 6 1/2's and they arent that terrible. I just gotta wait till I sell these to get the new ones

something along the lines of sony exploders or better. I have the current speakers on craigslist for $150 for all 4 but inm going to reduce them after this weekend. I gotta sell or trade the ones I got cause I dont wanna tap into my funds for real mods to get speakers. So yeah looking to spend about 100 to 150 depending on what they sell 4. U got some?
