    All motor 1.6L

Ok I just bought an mx-3 about 2 months ago! I'm currently working on body work....... Anyways I'm was thinking about going turbo but I want to go all motor or nitrous since I already had a twin turbo car (400hp stealth TT). So you guys have any idea what I can do to increase the hp? I'm going to take out the A/C & powersteering for less stress on the engine and less weight.

i agree, swap the B6 out for a BP... its much better platform to start with .

nothing really, it is very very similar in design to the BP. many parts are even interchangable.

but why would you intentionally start out with a smaller displacement engine

just to be different, I don't want to go with the whole swap deal......pita I hate swaps ! I just want to make some power out of an engine that seems imposible to make power out of. I found an engine kit that will bump up the compression to 10.5:1 instead of 9.0:1 do you know where I can get cams for this engine? I was thinking about 1st gen miata cams, but not sure if they would work.........

a bp swap would be easy... it all bolts/plugs in. plus you could then put high comp pistons in the BP and have a real nice amount of power . higher comp in the B6 is probably only going to bring you up to around stock BP levels.

              your call though

miata cams should work IF the distributor is on the same cam as the miata. i heard they swapped that around a bit with the B6.

I thought that miatas had coils and not distributors

they do but they still use a cam angle sensor, which bolts in just like our distributor. in fact our distributors use the same cam angle sensor inside.

I thought the B6s are tons weaker then the B8s/BPs!

okay, so are you running a DOHC b6 OR A Sohc?

well still, idk if its really worth it. Theres a bunch of Miata stuff for that motor, but I still say the BP is a better platform to start with. Hell I got mine for $240 and it only has 67K on it! The swap is virtually plug and play (some exceptions) I say leave yer motor in and build an all motor BP. when its done, do the swap. Just my .02

the rods are the same... pistons are similar in design... heads are similar in design. its all... well, its very similar like i said. lol

the problem with the B6 is that the bore pushes the block to the maximum, it isnt safe to hone the cylinder out more than .5mm which makes replaceing pistons sometimes difficult in a severly worn engine.

where did you get a BP for 240?
