GTR swap in progress need wiring help

Have everything pulled from 91 EGT, I have a complete GTR harness AWD tranny (which I will put up this week), ic, ecu etc. Well the wiring for the GTR harness seems ALOT shorter for one and per the pics below the wiring to my escort is different inside the car. I am not sure how to wire the NA harness to the knock sensor and FI resistor box.... also in this list is the solenoid differences that the BP doesn't have. Any idea's? I guess I can use the GTR harness if it is easier if someone knows how to mate it with the egt wiring. This is my only setback.. Thanks

    -Steve

This is the pic of the GTR plug that does not match the EGT's, along with the correct color codes for that plug according to the service manual.

And these are the plugs inside the Escort that are different.

And finally the NA harness differences found on feoa that came from here originally.

Someone has to know a way to do this. I have got to get this out of my driveway.

Actually, the GTR harness will fit in your car without making it longer. I have a RHD GTR harness in my 91 Protege and it fit without making any wires longer. As far as the wiring, I'm not 100% sure about what wires need to be messed with to make it plug and play. The only difference I can think of off the top of my head is for the fuel pump system since the GTR used 2 fuel pumps instead of 1 like our cars. I'll talk to my friend that did my harness tonight and see what he did to make it work.

Thanks I would really appreciate it. I am also trying to figure out where I can get the service manual for second gen escort. I have no idea what those wires go to in the escort. The chilton and hanes books never list the plugs.

The factory manuals for the NA Protege and GTR are floating on the internet in PDF format. Hopefully someone has them hosted because I can't send them to you through email since thay are much too big.

However, you can run your NA harness and just plug it into the GTR motor after extending the FPR solenoid wire. Then plug your GTR computer in the NA harness and it should work. I did this on my escort when I swapped and the other two wiring mods that you would do it splice in the knock sensor control box and 4 wire TPS. The car will run without these - but if you want it complete those will complete it. Trust me, using your existing harness will avoid a lot of headache.

Sorry another edit. For the GTR you have to wire in your resistor box for the injectors since they are low impedence.

I completely rewired the NA harness to include the resistor box, knock sensor, and 4 wire TPS. The last two things are some high and low temp solenoids that are not on the gtx or na harness. Nor are they on my gtr, the original harness isn't even pinned for it. Below are two drawings. The GTX one has the solenoids like my engine.

I have the bp26 head, gtr intake, and a vj23 turbo? what gives? Is there a difference in the years, someone upgrade this engine with all GTR stuff? how can I tell otherwise? what is the number on the gtr ecu?

Do I just wire It like I would the NA harness to the FPR solenoid?

the GTR head is supposed to be a BP26, i'm sure you do in fact have a GTR motor.

dont worry about that FPR thing, i have NEVER seen a gtr that actually uses the dual port fpr setup shown in the fsm. glad to hear you got it figured out steve! now fire that thing up :D

It should say BP-C8 or BP-C9. I'll take your tranny of your hands.
