I'm very excited to present March's ROTM winner, Proto420 or Steve as we also call him. Steve has been up for ROTM too many times to count, and has been passed up everytime for whatever reason. But now it is his time to shine and be recongnized like he should be. So I would like to be the first to give Steve a pat on the back and a nice

About me and the Car:
Well Im 26 years old and was born and raised in southern California. Ive
always been into all types of motorsports since I was in diapers. I've been
into Mazda's for about almost 10 years now.
My first Protege was a red DX that was T-boned on the drivers side front &
rear doors that I bought for $300 cause I needed a car. Soon after that I
swaped in a LX motor and thats when I got into the Mazda scene. That car
will always be my favorite cause it went through a lot with me, from being a
work truck with 10ft sticks of sheetmetal and ladders and tools loaded down,
to rallying it after work on the muddy jobsite. That car still lives on
today cause my most current car has about 50% of the parts from that car.
This black car when I got it looked like I bought it from the junk yard. The
transmission was mising the motor had only one mount holding the motor in
place and the mount was held together by some wire. It was a auto but got
converted to 5 speed. It had no interior just trash piled up to the roof and
no wheels, it was sitting on bricks!
It took me a short amount of time to swap the motor and trans from my
original protege.
Before I knew it I was driving it with no hood, no doors, and no glass.. I
couldnt wait to drive her.
I found Clubprotege from looking at rides on Cardomain.com
Then around that time I became more of a frequient user of this club and
started to dream about having a boosted car. Thats when I met Dave and most
of my JDM dreams came true!
Ive taking her to the dragstrip a few times and pulled a 1/8 mi time of 9.3
@ 78 mph on the stock VJ20 turbo on 12psi. Ive been itching to get her back
to the track since the VF10 upgrade, but havent had the time to get her to a
1/4 mi track.
Currently I got another LX for a daily driver. All the parts on this blk car
will go onto that shell, and then the black car will recieve the built motor
that Ive been working on, and will become a track only car.
Hopefully soon I can finish my Familia's so I can work on my 240sx and drop
a skyline RB20det motor in it to be my daily drifter!
Thanks to everyone here on this club for all the info and idea's that you
all inspired to help get my car to where she is now!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
