Kia BP into 1g LX...

My LX blew up... can I use a Kia BP if I swap all my sensors and whatnot to the newer motor? The motor's coming out of an automatic Kia with 77,000 miles.

Should work just fine. Remember to swap out the auto 4-wire TPS for your manual 3-wire. Assides from that just compare the differences in the harness plugs.

well it had about 190,000 miles on it... and 130,000 (before I bought it) were probably not very well maintained miles. The Kia only has 70k and it was rolled so the motor was probably still fine.

Engine should be just fine. Just get a basic gasket kit and replace the essentials. Good luck with the swap!

dont forgot to swap your MBSP over to the kia motor! if the ford BPs dont have them, i highly doubt that kia spent the extra $4 per motor

update: stopped by the pullapart this afternoon and saw that someone had pulled the Kia's slushbox, then found another Kia with a BP and a 5-speed... this one has about 108k though. So i'm thinking i'll head back sometime this week or next weekend and pull the 77k BP and the 108k tranny... IIRC the Kia 5-speed is a little beefier than the 1g 5-speed?

hehe alright. ive gotta go hunting for one myself, if the weather would stop being on crack! 60 degrees one day... snowing that night... 50 the next day, 20 degrees this morning! i dont get it.

5-speed trannies are only $55 at the pullapart... so if another 5-speed BP Kia shows up i'll grab it.

LOL. Ha, that would have been me... You didn't by any chance get the vin# from that Kia did you? It was a 97 yr model if I remember correctly.
