is a manual boost controller. from what i understand i need to tee off from the actuator and somewhere else. my guess is that it is the blue hose in the pic. I don't have the stock solenoid for the engine and this is how it was set up when I got it. Anyway. from the tee to the boost controller then back to the compressor where? more pics are available if needed.

a MBC just goes inline on the hose between the compressor and the actuator. you dont have to run a tee, just cut the hose and put it in there

blue hose in pic looks like a coolant hose so if that is the case, that's not the correct one to put the MBC on.
The hose you are looking for goes to the wastegate actuator behind the turbo. The actuator is a cylindrical type object with a connection barb on top of it which is connected to the hose you want to put the MBC on.

(goes out and looks under hood) hmm... now that you mention it, that rather does look like a vj23 don't it... I musta been thinking about the backside of the housing, you know with the flat face and all that ribbing. OK that blue hose is almost certainly the one you're looking for, the water and oil lines all go to the center section, where the bearings are. Hard to tell for sure from that pic but if it doesn't have oil or water in it, you're certainly on the right track!'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

to me it looks like the blue hose was used to replace the stock boost control solenoid... which is normally right there on top of the comp housing. you can see one of the empty mounting holes.
