    April 2007 ROTM - Turpro

Well spring has come, and with it comes an awesome ROTM winner. Chris has had a hard time with this car, and still does, yet he continues on and it is perfect material for ROTM and for others to learn from. I'd like to be the first to congradulate Chris on a job well done, and for not giving up and choosing to pick a different route and be unique.

    CONGRATULATIONS!!

I bought my first 1st gen because my Integra was broke down and my buddy was hiding it in my garage for about 3 months already (repo man was looking for it). I use to rag him about owning a 4dr (remember I was into civics). He put Tokico blue struts and Eibach springs on it and a set of 17in white powdercoated wheels. I wish I had pick of it but I don't. The car was mint. The first one was t-boned in jan 05.

Oh well. Onto my current ride.

    A little about me:
I'm a 32 year old father of 2. My wifey doesn't understand, and never will, why I keep a 1st gen. She tells me "why not just buy a new car?". Women will never understand the 1st gen love. My daughter is 7 and lives in arizona and my son is 3 and acts just like me. I drive semi-trucks for around 12-15 hrs a day. Sometimes more. I've been into imports for a long time now and I don't think I'll ever own an american car. Before I was into proteges and mazdas period I was a die hard honda guy. I can still appreciate one that's done right.

    About my ride:
Right now my current car is my 93 protege lx. I bought it from a guy in Miami that claimed "didn't need anything". Haha yea right. It was dropped with cut sprint(maybe some ebay kind) and kyb struts in back and stockers up front. It sat on 16s with 205/40 tires. Also had a header, straight (no cat, res, nothing) 2.25 exaust to a ebay fart can, mx3 shift boot, b&m short shifter, 626 5th gear swap and rx7 vaf. I paid a price tag of 2k for it in feb 05 with 148k miles. Now 2 yrs and 1 month later I'm about to flip it to 159k.

I would like to give thanks to all the members of clubprotege for voting for me and for keeping CP alive and well. Special thanks goes out to the members I talk to frequently, you know who you are, that have helped me in the pursuit of building and fixing my ride.

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Man, I know I haven't known you long Chris... but I definitely understand the love you have for that car. And I know you probably know this already, but everytime I ride in or see that thing, it makes me reminisce about my old pro and the love I still have for these cars...

They are very stout cars... and anyone who refers to them in any bad fashion on the other forums I am on usually hears the wrath from me

I'm very appreciative of the people like you (Chris, CP) who keep these cars alive and do them up w/ good taste in mind. Keep keepin' on and even though I'm in the Nissan game now... the Protege/Scort/SHO side of me is still alive and tickin'... I think thats why I can't stay away from this place!

Yea me either. The itch is really bad right now because I have to look at the turbo parts everyday. Hopefully next month.

ya know... a peculiar thing happened when i voted for chris. i first read all of the notes and found one that said chris had already voted... however, i was the first registered turpro vote... ?

does this mean that i believed in you when you didn't even believe in yourself?
                        :bsmeter:

congratulations chris!!!!! your BG is the shizzz!

Congtulations, Chris. I'm rarely on the 1st gen forum anymore. I haven't had either of my previous 1st gens in ages. I like the body shape of the 2nd gen too much. Yeah, that's even with the disrespect we get. The way you have your car w/o the overdone crap that just doesn't look right on the 1st gen is perfect. I know I've said they now look to boxy for me but you bring out that love I always keep for the 1st gen. I'm sure as the years pass it will keep looking older and outdated but it will never look ugly and the reliability was the BEST of any car I owned. If I could have all the cars I wanted, I would STILL include a 1st gen in my collection but I'm POOR! It's 95 and up for me now. Thanks for sharing your beautiful car. That's what a 1st gen should look like. It's just my opinion.
