Here's something that Jay got me thinking when he mentioned his Frankenprotege has a front lsd. Would/could the Quaife for the G trans work? I've a 2way for the rear, the viscous center, now I just need something for the front. any idears?

actually wait, the quaife gets bolted to your stock ring gear, so it might work. count the splines on your GTR intermediate shaft

GTR and GTX front diffs that go in the trans are the SAME! I have had both transmissions apart next to each other- mirror image, with minor differences.
Craig, you don't need a diff in the front with the one in the rear, and the GTR in the trans... your all good. Unless the center viscous is bad...

i know the gtx/gtr diffs are about the same, i think he was asking if the FWD g-series diffs were the same.

All 4 will tear the gravel. Pix of the rallycar show this to be the case...along with my old GTX with the stock BPT box, throwing dirt from all 4. That centerdiff sends most of the torque to the back where it belongs anyhow. Any open-diff issues up front come out in the wash, with enough underhood grunt.
The jury is still out as to whether the front diff on the rallycar is LS or open. What I think is, the guy who sold it to me was thinking about the centerdiff, which is indeed LS on that trans. When I pressed him on it, he said again that no, the front diff is LS as well but I ain't about to split the case to find out. Right now, the rallycar is on jackstnds with no suspension on the driver side; those shocks ar at Dave Clark Motorsports, to be used as templates for the new stuff. Once I can run it without having loose rotating bits flaying about wherever they feel like, I'll jack the other side up, put it in gear, fire it up and see what happens when I stop one front wheel. That oughtta settle it, yes?'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

OK, I made sure I could, and got all 4 corners off the ground and fired it up. The rear diff is lsd so is the centerdiff, but the front diff is open as I suspected. But it still throws dirt from all 4...'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

Yah it makes me wonder though, Dave Hintz who is very quick in his Sooby, had a front diff let go on one rally, and he talked about "struggling with the car" with a replacement open front diff... gee I wonder what a LSD front diff would be like? Am I "struggling" now and don't know what I'm missing? Survey sez duh, yeah.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
