    SOHC wiring< to a BP05 engine

Can I us my sohc wiring harness with my new engine??? I have a 1991 Mazda 323 sohc with a manuel transmission. I've heard people ask this before but I never found a straight answer. Can I order this harness from somewhere?? I know I 'm better off gettin it from an Escort GT or Protege LX. I got my engine and trans from an Escort Gt, i can still get parts from it, so my other question is what do i need 2 get from it 2 make my swap successful??? I payed the junkyard 2 take out the engine out and the guy that did it cuth some wires that run under the engine, i definity need 2 replace those, i'll post pics later 2 day, any input is welcome

You can use the SOHC harness, it's plug and play. Just add the 2 wires for the VICS activation. But even without it will run.

        Variable Resonance Induction System or
Variable Length Intake Manifold (VLIM) is an automobile engine manifold technology. As the name implies, VLIM can vary the length of the intake tract in order to optimize power and torque, as well as provide better fuel efficiency.

There are two main effects of variable intake geometry:

        * Swirl - Variable geometry can create a beneficial air swirl pattern in the combustion chamber. The swirls help distribute the fuel and form a homogeneous air-fuel mixture which ignites without engine knocking. At low rpm, the speed of the airflow is increased by directing the air through a longer path with limited capacity (i.e., cross-sectional area), but the shorter and larger path opens when the load increases so that a greater amount of air can enter the chamber. In DOHC designs, the air paths are often connected to separate intake valves so the shorter path can be excluded by de-activating the intake valve itself.
        * Pressurization - A tuned intake path can have a light pressurizing effect similar to a low-pressure supercharger due to Helmholtz resonance. However, this effect occurs only over a narrow engine speed band. A variable intake can create two or more pressurized "hot spots", increasing engine output.

Many automobile manufacturers use similar technology with different names. Another common term for this technology is Variable Resonance Induction System (VRIS).

more questions, will my fuel injectors plug and play also??? can I use my sohc ignition coil??? and where is the ECU located on my SOHC 323??? i know i need 2 use the bp05 ECU, do i have 2 change any pins or plugs???

You need the BP05 injectors, SOHC coil is ok, no pins or plugs to change.

You need the BP05 engine, it's injectors and ECU... the rest can be SOHC stuff.

I have the injectors and there still plugged in to the harness but i wasn't sure if I could use the SOHC injector plugs, but yes I have all 4 of the injectors, another question- I bought Power Slot brake rotors, i wanted 2 know if I could use these rotors with the G-Tranny axles(escort tranny)??????

You should be able to use the injector harness. Just use the BP injectors. Most of the plugs are the same on both engines.

The injector plugs are the same.

The rotors will fit regardless of axles.

Shifter linkage will work too, as well as the exhaust.

ok maybe i'm not ready 4 da swap, still waiting on my headgasket 2 come..I purchased motor mounts for a 1992 ford escort gt, but after i picked them up i wasn't sure if I ordered the right mounts. can I use these??? i got the motor from an Escort, and every1 on clubpro says that it will bolt right in, so are the motor mounts the same?? can I use new escort mounts instead of the stock 323 mounts??? I only got 1 transmission mount, can I use my stock 323 mounts??? and can I use the stock 323 speedometer cable, and pedals???? ALL INPUT IS APRICIATED, THANKS

The Escort mounts should be ok. You can both front and rear tranny mounts from the 323. The mount near the timing belt and the top tanny mount on the drivers side need to be from a BP car.

You will need a speedo cable for the G-Series tranny. Pedals are all the same.

ran into a couple of problems during my swap, 1 is that i don't have the correct transmission bracket on the right side of the transmission under the battery tray, second is the green plug on the sohc fuel injector wiring harness does not reach the right side of the intake manifold, third is the front lower transmission mount does not line up but i think once i get the right transmission bracket that might fix that, any 1 have any pointers or can tell me what I am doing wrong
