turbo / super chargers for 99 prot SE

this may be a horrible question but, are there any chargers compatible with teh 99 prot se from other cars? like miatas or anything?
I saw a auto salvage yard nto to far down the road, and I was wondering if i go knocking could I scam a decent turbo or super for my prot.
and if I could would it be worth grabbing a second hand one if it's in good shape?
and do i want a super or a turbo? which one would perform better?

    read the faq and online.
turbo will wear out your engine faster, that much, i know.
there are turbos designed for proteges, but in essence, any small turbo should be able to fit in a protege... just a certain amount of customization will be required.

i haven't seen any pros with superchargers, though...

        www.hiboost.com is an example of a turbo'd protege5...
you can get a fair bit out of it.

i don't know what the engine damage is, though...

Just to satisy my morbid curiosity, how much would an Atx to Mtx shift kit run me?

Not that I plan on doing it, jsut a funny question. and is there any way I can really make my 1.6 L perform =/ I wanna start making it look nice but I'm a firm believer in the what it looks like should be reflected under the hood philosophy.

All i've seen is hear-say 'n whatnot... but from what i've seen.. like USD$2500 or so...

I want to try it, myself, in 2-3 years....
I don't really want to turbo my car with an auto tranny... so 1 step at a time, eh?

agreed easy does it is it possible to steal **** from wrecked cars adn use it :D because liek I stated earlier, adn auto salvage down teh road jsut brought in a 2003 miata that got crushed by a tree in teh hurricane.

if you read up in the other forums and other protege/mazda boards... i'm sure there's some parts that are transferable...

Man okay there is no way my engine is a 1.6 if there as slow as you guys say it is. I have an automatic and I decided to put it to the test today. I was cooking pretty well. I really need to get my car checked top to bottem so i know what I'm packing for parts. Is it inscribed anywhere on the car or do I have to go see a mechanic?
