Well this it. This is going to be long with lots of pictures, and probably multiple posts to get them all in.
First I will start with how/why I ended up with the 4wd protege. I owned a 91 Escort GT that I picked up for $300.00 with a blown automatic. I swapped in the BPT with 5 speed and had fun with it. I had always had thoughts of wanting to make the escort 4wd but never had the time to do so. Well one day on my way to work a guy in a Toyato pickup decides he doesn't see me and pulls out right in front of me. He also doesn't have insurance. Anyway my insurance company covers under non insured motorist coverage and they proceed to total my car and give me $2080.00 after I buy it back. So here I am sitting with 2grand and would like to find an 4wd pro. I spent 1 month searching thru classifieds, craigslist, and where ever else I could think of. Finally Derrick, guy at my work, tells me we had an old customer of ours that lives out in New Hampshire that had 2 of these 4wd pro's at one point in time. So he gives me an e-mail address and I contact him to find out that he still has 2 of them and would sell them. One of them had some rear end damage and the other had a blown tranny and according to him was very clean of rust for an east coast car. I said well let me see some pics and how much for the car. He tells me he wants $1000.00 for the car and that he would get me pics. So I start looking for shipping companies to have the car shipped from New Hampshire to Vancouver, Washington and the cheapist I could find was like $1400.00. So I talk to the guy with the car and ask if there is any way the car might drive onto a trailer and he says he will check it out. If the car will drive on & off a trailer shipping would be like $1200.00 bucks. He tells me it possibly would so I schedule the car for pick up for a operating vehicle. This has taken about another month for all of this and I still haven't received any Pics. Finally I just got to a point that I said screw it cause I couldn't find another one that I bought it and talked him down to $800.00 for the car. So the weekend that the car is supposed to be picked up he calls me and tells me the car won't even roll on its own let alone drive, says the drive train is locked up. So I have to get ahold of the shipping company and tell them that the car isn't going to drive on to a trailer so they have to reschedule a new pick up time (which is another month away) to pick up the car. So the car would at least roll I had the seller cut the front and rear axles in half so it would roll. Anyway the accident happened at the first of Jan 2006 and my 4wd pro showed up finally in May 2006 sight unseen.
