    About the car:
It all started about 5 years ago when my cousin had a 91 escort lx that we GTX'd. That car gave me the bug. At the time I had a 89 Mustang GT convert. That I 5 speed swapped and put 3.08 gears in the rear and would run 14.3's in the 1/4 mile all day long. Then I started waching my cousin mod his escort from high to mid 13's on drag radials to mid 12's on slicks. So I sold the mustang and bought an 87 626 GT which I turned around and bought a BP gtx engine and proceeded to swap into that car. I had some wiring issues that I never figured out while I had the car running, so I was looking for another car to put the BPT into. That's when I found the 91 escort GT with 80K miles on it and a blown auto tranny for $300. bucks. Of coarse the GtX went into that with a 5 speed that I put together from the 626 tranny, and went out and had fun. It ran a best of a 14.2 on some 15" street tires which was already faster then the Mustang that I had owned and still got 28-30 mpg on the highway. Well, while I had this car I was always talking about turning it into a 4wd which is what I really wanted, I just new that time and funds would not allow me to do it. Then one fatefull day, on my way to work, I was driving down the road when some guy in a Toyota p/u decided to pull out right in front of me. Needless to say the insurance totaled the car, and gave me a check for $1980.00 for it after my buy back fee. Well this was my chance to get my 4wd I wanted, so I started surfing CP and other places looking for someone selling an AWD Pro. I finally found one and had a hard time getting info for it and pics as well but I wasn't having any luck finding another one, so I bought it sight unseen for $800. not drivable. As most of you know I picked this vehicle up from the east coast, New Hampshire to be exact, and was going to have to have it shipped. After a couple of weeks searching for an auto transport that would pick up the car not running, I finally was getting it shipped. The cheapist shipping I found was $1500.00 so all of a sudden I just bought a $2300.00 dollar car that doesn't even drive. The Escort wreck was in Jan. 2006 and the Pro was finally deliverd in march 2006. When it showed up I just about cried cause I just spent the money that I did for a complete rust bucket. After much labor, from myself, I had fixed the majority of the rust problem areas and had my GTX engine installed in it with a j-spec GtX tranny and the car running and driving by april 2006.

The car has run a best of a 13.48 @ 97mph in the 1/4 mile on my 17" street tires with a 1.71 60 ft time.
I would like to eventually build a new engine with a bigger/better turbo to be in the 300+ whp range.

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Repost some of the before pix... Never have I seen rust that bad. Y'all put a LOT of work into it to get it roadable. Go ahead and get into the 300 hp range, you will find it to be vastly amusing...
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

Thanks for all the congrats, and thanks to all who voted. It was a long road to where the car is today and I'm still not done. I still have a rear wing to put on, and I want to find a factory front lip for the bumper still. Then as stated I still want to build up a new engine for it and get it over that 300whp, I just need to get rid of my other car that sits in my garage so I can afford it . I will post up some other pics of some of the rust problems it had when I get home today.
                      Any way thanks again all,

It would also be very informational to show how you got rid of the rust problems.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics on the after repair, or as I did the repairs. They are all just pics of the before (for the rust problem areas of the car). I am going to repost some pics and post some other pics that I haven't before in the pic/vid section for those that want to see the before I fixed pics. For info the big rust problems on this car were in the sub frame, in which case I cut the majority of the bad metal out and welded in new metal. There was a hole in the floor board on the drivers side next to the access panel for the fuel tank. It actually went all the way through the sub frame of the car so you could see the ground underneath. For that section I welded in some 1/8" plate on the inside of the sub frame, then covered the sheet metal with some sheet metal welded in then seam sealed. Pics of the bottom of my car right now would show a lot of rubberized undercoating on it so you wouldn't be able to see a lot of the previous damage.
Any way, off to post some pics,
                          Jason

EDIT: I will say that I didn't get all the problem areas fixed becasue I have rust bubbles coming back out of paint (sucks ass). Overall I am happy wiyh the way the car turned out, but if I had it to do all over again, I would have been a little more patient in trying to find an AWD pro. As Jay said in another post, they seem to be coming out of the wood work right know
