    Quaife or MSP LSD?

Who has driven both? Is the Quaife really worth 4x times the price of the MSP LSD?

I have to say ferdi, the MSP is not what "I'd" like to consider a true LSD. it is easily twice as good as the stock differential. but is not a full time biasing unit. it does have a fairly noticeable engagement, i would imagine the quaife to be smooth entirely.

if i had the money i would buy a quaife. plus quaife has a lifetime warranty, MSP does not

What are the actual prices for the Qualife, and the MSP? I have been looking into running an LSD once I get my supercharger setup in.

        MSP ~$400
        Quaife ~$1600

Plus bearings, speedo gear, and axles. For the Quaife you also have to remove the ring gear from your open diff and re-mount it using ARP bolts. The MSP comes with a new ring gear attached already.

I've driven both. Quaife is nice... but how serious is your car going to be? Is it going to be for the track? Unless your edging for those extra few tenths around the race track, or the money isn't an issue, just go with a welded msp lsd.

His car is as serious as it can get for a street car.

Unless money is no object, then I wouldn't bother for a street car....

In the future I'd like to go to the track. Open track day/HDPE road courses sound like fun. Nothing really competitive though.

Dave, how different/similar do they feel?

It's not that money is no object, but I like to do everything right the first time. So, if one is clearly better than the other... But, right now, from what you are saying, for 4 times the price, the Quaife is only marginally better?

Yeah, I've heard of OPM. They are in Cumming, GA about 30 minutes from where I live. I'll be at around 300whp, so I am not sure if a modified stock diff could handle that. But, keep us posted on how you like it.

Well, if I do end up deciding on the Quaife, I finished step one today of removing the ring gear from the stock open diff.

LSD "conversion"? is it like the phantom grip or something?

Sorry I thought I replied to this awhile ago!

Its kind of comparing apples to oranges for me. The msp lsd was in an msp, drivetrain and suspension dead stock. The Quaife was in a p5 racecar with 220whp and a $16k suspension setup. The msp lsd is ok, but it isn't perfect. The Quaife was seamless. The suspension and many other factors could have been playing a role in it though.

For me it comes down to money. I'll be running an msp lsd in my car. I can't justify the extra money for the quaife... not worth it for a street car.
