    the results are in!

alright, so... as expected, traction was a major issue. i managed to get three runs in though, i ran ~15psi the whole night. here are the times, with explanations below:

r/t: .707 (my first run ever... gimme a break)
    60': 3.011 (wheel hopping like a mo-fo in 1st gear)
330: 8.713 (couldnt get it in 2nd gear, so i just put it in 3rd and lugged it)
    1/8: 12.192
mph: 75.63 (finally picking up a bit....)
    1000: 14.870
    1/4: 17.049 (most bad-ass time ever)
mph: 104.03 (this suprised everyone i showed the slip to... who runs a 17 over 100mph!?!)
this was VS. a ~2000 cadillac... he ran a 16.6 @ 83... shoulda smoked his ass

    r/t: .393 (a little better)
60': 2.609 (bad, but not terrible. shifted to 2nd really quick to avoid wheelspin)
    330: 6.731
    1/8: 9.705
    mph: 83.43
    1000: 12.216
1/4: 14.315 (this was my best time of the night, and the best time of everyone i knew who was there )
mph: 107.47 (to me this suggests i should be running well into the 13's if i can learn to launch my car properly....)
this was vs. a big V8 pickup truck. he had me till shortly before the 1/8, and then i smoked him... he ran a 15.3

    r/t: .634 (****ty)
    60': 2.292 (thats more what i'm looking for )
330: 6.611 (missed 2nd gear once, then managed to stuff it in)
    1/8: 9.688
    mph: 81.16
    1000: 12.240
    1/4: 14.375
mph: 105.15 (i tried shifting to 5th this time, because the last run i was just about at 7k in 4th... and the motors VE drops like a stone after ~6k rpm. obviously shifting to 5th was a bad idea... so i think i just need some taller tires.)
this was vs. a v8 swapped s10 with slicks. he pwned me from start to finish, he ran a 13.49

i cant wait to go back... i gotta get there earlier next time so i can make some more runs. Pox took some pictures and videos, so hopefully he'll have them up tomorrow .

    cliff notes: best time was a 14.315 @ 107.47, worst time was a 17.049 @ 104.03 (lol)

holy crap on the 1st run... talk about pulling hard at the end. certainly shows traction is your limit. That's some decent times for the tires you've got. I didn't realize 4th stopped you so fast. guess I've never driven a car with power to push 4th to the end.

    lol...I still can't get over 17sec @ 104mph...rofl that's just awesome.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

haha yeah a lot of people WTFed at that time slip. i'm lucky i didnt grenade my transmission with all that wheel hop =x

i remember hearing that the 91-92 EGT trannies had longer gearing... i need to take my beater for a drive and the EGTR for a drive and see. if thats true (for 4th is all i really care about) i'll hunt down a 91-92 tranny to put an LSD in.

yeah, I read that over at feoa. but I didn't see any proof yet. are you set up for running lower boost in 1/2 gears and then full boost after that? that might have helped with the 60ft times.

Good times for a first try Jon, get that boost controller working off MS and base it on RPM and TPS.

With more practice it's bound to get better.

And the earlier tranny seems to just have a longer 1/2. You don't need taller gearing, you need more traction and you need more experience dragging a FWD car.

well i'm just saying i need a taller 4th... cause if i'm hitting redline in 4th at 15psi and no traction.... i'm going to HAVE to shift 5th once i get the thing to hook up, and up the boost some more.

i think i may invest in the remote switch for my electronic boost controller... that way i can launch at 9psi and then hit 15 once i'm in 2nd gear.

i think i might do the same thing jon, its a must to figure out what max PSI you can run before you loose traction. to bad theres only High/Low boost settings instead of 1st/2ns/daily driver
