I did with a MSD 6AL. The 2-step worked great!! I just used the clutch switch for the cruse and a master switch. I lunched a 2,500 rpm (any higher and I'd get wicked wheel hoop) and I could also flat shift. I didn't drop any time in the 1/4, but I did go from 98.9mph to 102.2mph.

94 Protege LX: HX-35, Megasquit, ect...
98 Subaru Legacy GT-DD: 1 inch lift, and all the standard N/A stuff.

i have a sci-l with a 2 step set for 4,000 rpm. its good but just dont hold it to long becouse you will detonate like crazy. the fuel injectors just keep dumping ton of fuel in. i was a dum ass i just kept doing it for fun. till i found out how much damage im doing to my engine! i stop cold turkey lol!

hopes this helps. if i was to do it over i will get a 3 step!

On my TECII unit, the2 step is activated via the clutch switch. You run a wire from the air temp sensor pin off the TEC unit and hook it up to the clutch switch. Then you ground the other pin of the clutch switch so that when you press the clutch in, it activates the 2 step rev limiter.

well thets the problem when you press the clutch. the two step will activate and retard the ign to what ever you had it set for take off. so you will
!detonate! on every shift.well thats what happen in my setup. i needed i nother switch to turn off the two step after i take off.

Your suppose to let off the throttle when you shift(I personally don't like power shifting). I've never had that problem on my setup going down the track.

And detonation does not occur. What it does on launch control is allow the engine to keep pumping exhaust gases by cutting off the spark at said rpm and letting the fuel ignite where it counts, in the turbo manifold and build boost under no load.

if you hold it too long your EGT's will go sky high and you'll start melting things

Granted, but who said your suppose be on the 2 step for too long. The lights at the track go from yellow to green in only a few seconds. Just enough time to build some boost before the launch.

i know that, the other guy was talking about holding it for a while and blowing his motor though. it doesnt cause detonation, it causes high EGT;s which cause things to melt and eventually cause deto

well maybe theres something wrong with my setup? i used a nitros throttel switch. and attached it to my clutch pedal. then ran 12 volts to it. i olso put a switch between the batery supply to the peddel switch to cut the power completly for normal driving. i ran the power wire for the 2 step of the clutch peddel switch. so when im driving with the power !ON! to the 2 step. as soon as i press the peddel down to shift!! bang!! it tries to go back to launch rpm or is it just cutting out the spark ? making me detonate or blow huge flame balls out the tail pipe of unburn fuel.

yeah its retarding your timing again. its not making you detonate, it is making the fuel burn late in the exhaust though... kind of like an anti-lag. its backfiring not detonating

yes thats whats going on . well whats the dif between detonating and back firing? becouse when it back fires it sound pretty damaging . almost like 2' 12 gage shotguns going off simultaneously! i wood think it was deto.but i guess rong .cool good info

backfiring is when the fuel is burning in the exhaust rather than in the motor.

detonating is when the fuel ignites in the motor before/as the piston reaches TDC... aka knock or ping. you actually retard the timing to prevent knock... not as far as the two-step retards the timing though obviously.
