    quick ?

    does anyone know if there is a stroker kit available for my 91egt 1.8? and if not where is a good place to buy the rebuild kit? i race my car on a 3/8 mile dirt track and got it hot last night. now i have a bad knock. i think its time to rebuild!

          are there any other piston options that i have to increase power? while i have it tore apart id like to get as much out as i can but i want to keep a stable motor. ill be running right at 7000 rpm for 30 laps

            miata pistons bump the compression to 9 to sumthin to 1 compared to the stock 8to sumthin to 1 on the escort gt's

              8.8 is stock, 9.5:1 is the most common for miatas (some newer years are 10, newest mx5s are 11:1). its a small boost, gives a little more response. Get a miata head, and swap over the solid lifters/cams, upgrade the springs. at 7K rpms those are a weak spot. lighten things too, crank, flywheel. If you've got money, get some lighter rods. That'll free up alot of kinetic energy and put it to good use at the wheels.

              $400 = flywheel
              $450 = 9.5:1 wiseco pistons
              $?? = lightening the crank
              $$$$!! = lightweight rods
              No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

                any special year of miata that i should be looking for for the 9.5? im trying to do this on a junkyard budget lol. and my head is ported and polished will that change what will work as far as pistons and other internals?

                  nah, a p&p won't change things, except power. I want to say the 9.5s came from 94-97 miatas (no new model in 98). and the 10s were 99-can'tremember.

                    the 9.5:1 pistons were in the 99-00 miata. 94-97 were 8.8:1 or 9:1 depending on the year.

                    i wonder if chris sold his 9.5's yet?

                            i was talking to a guy on the phone the other day and he said he had a 4 door egt with a 1.8 dohc. does that sound right? i dint think they made any 4 door gts
