Good safe temps for a NON rotary turbo car is 1450-1600F. 1450 is obviously prefered. So umm i'd say to at least 1700!
**SOLD** 93 EGT with more suspension mods then your average riced out civic's # of decals + useless "bling/style/culture" mods! **SOLD**
95 EGT New beater! And gawd damnit shes NOT pink!

how hot do rotaries run, out of curiousity?

most gauges ive seen go to either 1600 or 2200

In the manifold a 1600 gauge will give you very, very limited range. So for the manifold, get a 2000 for sure.

ever heard of a thermocouple coming apart and destroying the turbo? i keep finding threads where people are worried about this, but ive yet to find a picture or even a claim of this actually happening...

Never actually seen it happen but then again people have claimed it can. I guess it is a possibility with enough force and heat.

on my gtx I would see anywhere from 12-14 at the high end, thats at highway speeds 15psi with the vj20 and the EGT mounted in the downpipe. Just cruisin around out of boost I would see from 9-11

There's a large difference between after and before turbo. I don't see above 1250 on my setup with it 4 inches after the turbo on full boost up a hill. Shades sees pretty much 1500+ cruising on the hwy with it mounted in the manifold and stoich A/Fs.

Oh yeah and I'm non-turbo... it sits right next to the o2 sensor in the stock cast manifold.
