    Wiseco forged 10.3 N/A pistons K590M84

kit K590M84 10.3 comp ratio for N/A BP engines
has all rings, pins, clips, oil rings, wrist pins all look good quality but-

wrist pin/gudgeon pin retaining clips are bad design ( these are not spirolox type ), horseshoe shape round section with no loops on ends makes fitting them impossible without scratching up piston.

is it just me or would a square section clip & groove with proper circlips with loops that can be inserted/removed with circlip pliers be too much to ask of a QUALITY piston.

pistons are for miata/protege as listed BUT-

piston has narrow skirt that hits oil jet/squirter directly, bending jet to clear will result in jet then contacting rod, poor design very badly designed, cnat believe such a product could be made so wrong.

still looking for solution to this problem, do not want to remove pistons from rods to have them machined, neither do i want to block oil jets, modifying jets may not work as they will end up hitting rods if you change position?.

overall- these do not work out of the box making them next to useless, the money you spend getting them machined/balanced to actually work would be better spent just buying a better piston in the first place

    i learned my lesson

if you buy the pistons from flyinmiata they should have the relief cut out for the oil squirter. otherwise they will not, at least this is what ive read...

It's true. Only fyingmiata does the cutting out for the squirters before they ship them to you.

Your rods must be really wide to be hit. I have H beam rods and they are fine. What kind of rods do you have?

can someone post pics of said cutouts for oil squirters? I have not dug into a BP motor yet, i have kinda wondered what the setup looked like.

                .

rods are gtx/NA rods, because skirt is so narrow compared to standard skirt and trying to aim jet at center of piston it gets into the path of rod movement ( if i left jet where it was and cutout pistons- jets would fire outside skirt) , everything is round the right way like i said - dots on pistons towards front, valve cutouts match head etc, rods round the right way etc etc, seems a bloody shame to cut up what should be a plug & play piston, may try shortening a jet seeing if it clears then get the ends peened/welded then drilled etc, this is a major stumbling block for me but no biggie as the engine wont be going in till maybe mid/late next year, wanted to get the reco head, cams, mbsp, sump, pumps, belts on, my dad may be a bit pissed off with all the junk lying on his garage floor he he, will just use a standard high mileage BP i have sitting around to get the carbs/headers/ignition/header sorted first before i fire up the high comp one.

Is this squirter problem true for the 8.6:1 wisecos as well? I am planning on buying the 8.6 ones and this is the first time I hear about this.
