    Picked up a BG today...

I'm excited, I've been wet dreaming a ZE BG hatch for a few years now, and today the mule was acquired - base model, no options (just how I like it)...

Anyone know the curb weight of these guys? Mine's a '90, 5-speed, the SOHC monster.

The plan is to run low 13s all motor and mid 12s on slicks all-motor. It'll take some work, but it's a ton easier than getting a Probe to run 10s. Already got all the parts ready for the swap, I'll do it over the Xmas break.

Car looks pretty rough inside, and has a funky Seinfeld-ish smell inside but I'm sure a good shampooing, replacement door panels and a new headliner will do wonders.

For the swap I still have to read up on the speedo issue, and I don't know if the LX-model gauge cluster will swap right in (I'd like to have a tach), but otherwise it looks pretty straight forward. The body will receive the GTX rear spoilers, some mild side skirts and probably the Pakfeifer front bumper, though there are quite a few that I like. Going for a modified, but subtle look along with 16x7s all around.

    I'm stoked!

Welcome and congrats! Are you making the 323 the drag car your probe is or keeping it streetable?

Are you going full interior and make it look stock as hell or are you gonna strip it?

I'd do like that guy did in Puerto Rico and throw some cams and ITB's on it then megasquirt it. It would definately be a sleeper. No one would see that coming..... if he was going that route

Thanks for the link - 2200 is not bad to start - this one may be even less since it has no options, unless the consumer reports gives the base model weight. This car will be a daily driven street car, with mild audio (no sub) and full interior.

The engine going in is the 196hp KLZE, and with bolt ons it will go low 13s on street tires. Power to weight is the same when I was running 12's all-motor with the Probe when it weighed 2250.

Which manifold did you run, the curved neck or the straight? And did you port the IM?

In the Probe I run the straight neck ZE manifold, mild knife-edging on inlet and VRIS removed. I run the same manifold at 20 psi but it's probably robbing about 50 whp at that boost level compared to something like the Spitze IM.

i must say, your deluding yourself if you think the 323 is 2200 lbs... try adding another 3-400 ontop of that
you might be able to eliminate some extra weight removing the glass in favor of lexan or sort. similar to how it appears in that probe. glass is heavy.

I can't see the base 323 @ 2600 when my mx6 with almost all factory options comes in at 2750. Consumer Reports shows the curb weight at 2238, and that seems fairly reasonable. No matter, I'll get it weighed to be sure tho - I've been wrong before.

ryan, my 4wd weighs under 2700. beat that!
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.
