    megasquirt

the install is a bit more involved, and the learning curve steeper... but the software is very user friendly once you learn it. and it is DEFINATELY the best bang for the buck imo.

i bought my tuning laptop for $20

if you're going for that much power you should have it dyno tuned regardless of the system you choose to run

Yea, Jacob russell builds them. I think he quoted me 750-800 for a plug and play setup. He'd be the 1 to ask though. I'd go ms over anything else. Safc is ok but doent have anywhere near the tuning capabilities as a standalone ms or e-manage.

Depends how much time you want to spend learning it yourself. I like to do it myself so that when things go wrong you know exactly where to look.

but you got to think that is for a whole standalone ecu.

This is why I said you are not ready for "high boost." In order to have a 1.8l BP making 280hp reliably you will have to pay a price that is probably more than $700.

To each his own but the SAFC is ONLY useful if you run a GTX ECU and bigger injectors (something like 460cc) and want to up the boost a little. Not worth it on a VJ20 turbo.

The Spectre Performance '92 Ferrari F40 runs on a Megasquirt. It does Bonneville runs. I'm not kidding. It hit 226 mph. (Hell it's even mentioned on the wikipedia article for the F40)
