is a kia driver welcome here?

having been to the kia forums, those lame arses are only interested in looking fast and basically being ricers. i dont belong with them.
my sephia has a protege 1.8L dohc engine, protege transmission, protege suspension, brakes, gastank, fuel injection and everything else on my car is actually mazda with the exception of the body panels being kia. alot of the parts of my car even say "mazda" on them.
i am interested in performance and not looks.

my car looks 100% stock except for the performance modifications, like extensive weight reduction, X braced mig welded mild steel tube chassis bracing, and some (real) engine tricks as well as a stage 1 clutch and lightweight flywheel.

i would like to know if i am welcome here, being a kia guy on a mazda board.
    thanks.

hello, is there a way to turn off reply notification? every time a reply is made it messages me email which is linked to my messenger so a popup comes up.

anyways, theres no turbo kias out there, but all the turbo protege stuff works directly on kias as well. we share all of your parts exactly. if you were to see a kia and a protege engine bay, you wouldnt be able to tell the difference except for the valve cover which says "kia" instead of "mazda".

i did however, swap to a mazda valve cover as you can see. i like the whole exposed cam belt look.

today i am planning on making X bracing for the front strut towers. a big X that croses the whole engine.
each point of the x would be the 2 shock towers, and each headlight area.
im just not sure how to go about it yet.
anyone have ideas? i think i will have to bend the tubing into an arch to clear the engine, however i really do not want to do this, as bent tubing is far less strong than straight tubing. so i dont know quite how to go about this yet. i am brainstorming this modification right now with another kia owner over msn messenger.

sure you are welcome here ..
There is actually another kia owner on the boards.. I think his name is thunderbolt... he is around from time to time ..
Also there is a boosted kia around in the states.
It has a GTX motor in it .. I just have never seen the car, only saw the guy post and I don't remeber his name for crap lol ...

Welcome , glad to have you here. You will find that your front suspension is more similar to the 1st gens, as your car uses similar struts.

what if you didnt use an X.... create kind of a double H. It wouldnt be as strong as an X since you wouldnt have triangle's in the design (for those who dont know triangles are the strongest shape for building stuff hince why bridges are just a bunch of triangles) anyway but since you would have to bend the pipes in the X it could be about the same stregnth and not cover the engine
