killed the beater's tranny

so randomly today i started getting nasty banging noises from the transmission on my beater... i was near home, but HAD to make a trip 90 mins away and back.. so i babied it and made it (barely, i think).

after not too long i could no longer engage 1st or 2nd at all... so i was driving city streets starting in 3rd gear. any time i had it in gear while cornering, the banging and grinding kept happening... i'm pretty sure the diff is trashed, one way or another.

sooooo, its time for an unexpected engine/tranny swap this weekend. i'll take some pictures if theres anything worth seeing. the subframe bolts are messed up so i cant drop the tranny out the bottom...so i'm just gonna drop in a lower mileage motor with one of my spare trannies. wish me luck.. i need to drive this thing to work on monday! lol

i think its funny that of my two cars... this one broke. while just turning out of a parking lot nonetheless.... but apparantly 6k RPM clutch drops at the drag strip with three times the stock horsepower are no problem lol

Damn man lol probably took out the diff from those have assed n/a one tire peal outs that us n/a guys lovvvvveeeeeee so much!!! Need any help with it? If so let me know. I might be able to come down for a few hours especially on sunday since its suppose to be raining and be warm!

PS: Your not putting my FUTURE 60k motor in are you?!

i'm putting the 102k motor in... the 65k motor i'm saving for a future build-up i think. i'll sell you the motor thats coming out, if you want one to rebuild... it runs great, just burns a little more oil than i'd like.

I know it doesn't matter at this point but was the fluid ever checked? Or was the concept of a "beater" just assumed it was there?!

i tried to change the fluid actually, but i could not get the speedo gear out of the tranny. so, while i didnt want to leave it, i was kind of forced to. i didnt feel like pulling the drivetrain just to change the gear oil... although i suppose thats kinda what i'm doing now. lol

no one sells just a ****ing throwout bearing. i'd have to buy a clutch kit. soooo looks like i'm reusing one if i can find one. the one in the car now is screwed, it makes all kinds of noise. so i hope one of the ones on my spare trannies isnt too badly shot.

and my friends are hungover/asleep so i cant even get started yet.

i hope to have this POS back together tomorrow sometime. motor is all set to go... swapping all the missing brackets and **** onto the spare tranny, doing the axle seals, and bolting it together.
