Need info: BMW Idle Control Valve

Someone know if this is a solenoid or a stepper control valve?

    BMW Idle Control Valve

I'm thinking of going a custom route for controlling idle when I put in my DOHC and wire up my standalone. I don't like the design of our current module that controls our idle.

I've been itching to do this for over a year now, and now I finally have the money to do it.

If this is a stepper motor, I'll have to find something else.
Someone know of a solenoid that would work better for my little DIY project?

I like the idea of sticking a control valve between the line coming off the Hemholtz box and then line going to the TB. I'll prolly land up hollowing out the control module that sits under the TB. Although, I had torn one apart with my dremel some time ago just to see the inside and see how it was controlling the airflow. It may turn out harder to hollow it out. In that case, I'll just do a bit of welding (that is if the control module is made of aluminum that can be welded, otherwise I'll have to have a piece fabbed).

go to a BMW site, and ask there.

That sounds like a ****load of work. i think the stock set up is just fine, but good luck with that.
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?
