Anybody have any info? I'm getting sick of the ****ty pedal feel and soft brakes. Not to mention me almost hitting things a few times when even one tire loses traction and ALL 4 tires brake 100% slower since it won't lock up the others even when they are 100% on dry pavement and making 100% contact. Will just disconnecting it help anything or? I did that once on a pre 90s car (old Conquest that i used to have) and it helped tons but that was only rear ABS and this is obviously 1st gen pos ABS so probably somewhat the same!

Yep, ABS can be scary. I have driven 2008 Renault Megane, a French car. It's a decent Europe's mid-executive car. When I tried the brakes and ABS kicked in all side markers went on, then some annoying beeping, traction control got hands over the car, electrical steering was shaking like crazy and it needed at least 15 seconds of complete stop on the road to 'reset' the system and to normally continue driving. I tried this for the second time too and it's the same. You probably guessed that I didn't want to do it for the third or fourth time. So if you decided that a rabbit crossed your street and you somehow have to decrease speed and use the force of ABS, the ABS will do it its own way. Imagine happening that on an open and high-traffic roads. It's pure death.
Nowadays 'safety system' can scare a driver more than any odd traffic situation and I am pretty sure that some people died because of the inappropriate parameters and readouts of the safety system rather than false reactions.Last edited by gybe; 02-07-2008, 08:29 AM.Garage: Mazda Protege 1995, Z5 engine, MTX, P/S, no A/C, no ABS.

Well its been pulled and its tons better with no silly one tire sliding = ABS kick in and pedal on the floor and can't stop BS. Now just need to figure out why the brakes don't really stop the car well. Hmmmmmmmmmm. I may have to take the route I did with my 93. Just get track pads (HP+) and be done with it!
PS: Of course that also means TONS of f'in dust but damnit i LOOOOOOOVE the brakes in my 93!**SOLD** 93 EGT with more suspension mods then your average riced out civic's # of decals + useless "bling/style/culture" mods! **SOLD**
