    What are our suspension options?

How much of the 2wd BG suspension can we use? Do the GC coilovers and zx2 s/r struts fit? If not what are some good alternatives?

I've looked here and google and the few other places I could think of, but didn't find any definitive answers.

It's all the same as 2WD, just need to weld new brackets for the brake lines in the rear

the options are the same, even if the setup isn't. You'll have to crank the same setup stiffer (say B&G coilovers) over what you would on a 2wd. and the rear brake bracket, but thats easy to fix.

zx2 s/rs with whatever flavor (daquari is nice) lowering springs.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

What about spring rates? Are they the same also?

no, both the front and rear of a 4wd is heavier than the 2wd.

but that just means a "1.8" lowering spring might bring you down to a "2.0" drop or somthing.

So front and rear are evenly heavier? I definitely don't want the rear to sag, and I dont really want to drop any more than I have to.

do you have the fsm? it lists all the spring sizes, eg: wire diameter, # of coils, etc. with those you can calculate the spring rate. I did this a long time ago with the lx 5spd springs and the 4wd 5spd springs, had a chart somewhere, but have since lost it.

search the web for "spring calculator" or the like and you should find the page I used.

That should at least give you an idea of where you're coming from, and where you're headed. btw, didn't you have an auto-5spd conversion? if you still have your stock auto springs, I'd be interested. makes it sit about 1/2" higher.

I'll look for that spring calculator, thanks. I'm a suspension noob.

I'm still using my auto springs. I'll let you know when they're available.

                          so i'm bumping this..

the ZX/2 rear struts will work in my 1991 AWD Pro? the only difference is the brake line mounting point?

I wouldn't do that. That's exposing the oil to a lot of heat. That's what kills them.

i wouldn't weld anything. it's a brake line. zip ties work great on my stage rally cars. just looking for model years that will bolt in.
