    1997 MX-3 bp wiring ?

Hi, does anyone know if an 1989 BP engine out of a 323 F BG1, will fit the wiring harness of my 1997 MX-3 with a B6DE motor, also 1997.
I know you have to splice a plug, but now someone tells me that you have to change a lot because the engine I'm going to put into the car is a 1Gen and that doesn't fit the wiring of my car (OBDII) ???
any help on this will be appreciated.

OBDII doesn't work with OBDI... mine was II, and looking at the wiring and the diagrams it's waaaay too much splicing.

I just went with stand alone, but there are other ways. Look into second gen BP Protege's with OBDII... might be closer.

Okay, I will get a 2gen BP then, maybe it's a stupid question, but are there anyway to see if it's a 1 gen or 2 gen engine ?

It might just be easier to strip all the OBDII wiring and get a complete 90-94 pro BP with harness and install it.

Maybe, but I have read that the plugs on the old BP motor for the dashboard is different, so I would still have too swap those

Yep, your ignition wire is on a different connector. But thats all minor stuff to fix.
