    VICS switch over point

hey dudes , ITB's not ready yet etc
so ive set it up for the n/a manifold, different sound, and idles differently too

    been using the "search feature"
ive come with up nothing concrete about when to set the vics to switch on
    some say factory = 4500
yet my car use to go in as low 3500rpm when foot flat (i tested it)

but someone with the MS say to switch it over at 5300rpm as it did something during the dyno?

    your thoughts?
    dave

I think Ryan documented it in N/A form, search for dyno results or something relating to his cut intake manifold mod. Looking at the dyno sheet, you can see a hump where VICS engages for a stock engine, IIRC is ~4000rpms.

from what everyone says, at 5250 it comes on. but some say at 4000, or 4500. so, I don't know. If you can, dyno it, without the vics, and see where the curve could use the boost in TQ most. That's what I would attempt anyways. I'd use everclear 190 too. cause its Prime.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

        VICS engages between 5-5,100rpm

i'll be buying an rpm window switch so i can dyno tune the proper engagement point once my BPs built.

          cheers guys

i can set RPM activated things in the link
i can have it open slowly between rpm x and y
          or just open then

so i'll rewire the loom again, and tell the dyno guy to have a play

perfect! in that case do 2 runs. 1 with it open, 1 with it closed...find the crossing point and BAM!

i did this and it is a big deal. Cross over point is right where tq crosses hp at 5200rpm. With butterflies closed, i gained 20whp below 5200 and like 18ftlbs of tq, but lose damn near 40whp at peak power. With butterflies open i lost 20whp and 20ft/lbs, but gained like 50whp at peak power. To get the most optimum performance, i'd open it at like 5000rpm.

bit of a late post dude

be trailed on the dyno already

i had "interesting" results to say the least (will not share secrets)
but i got the best power having the VICS open at 5400 not 5200..but i also had it doing other things thanks to the Link G3 ECU

i havent been back since the first dyno run

but it made 131whp with VICS opening at 5200
made 125whp having VICS open at 4700
so theres a start i guess, we change the speed that it opens and also got more power too

Yes with the Link G3 ecu your can control the rate at which a solenoid can open...using a "HZ" value and in my case 3 different RPM modes.. ie at RPM value 1 use HZ valve blah...at RPM value 2 use blah, etc happens really fast, but works
we tried a few things...it ironed out the tiny spike in power/tq
