    Desperately need spline counts!!!

on rockauto.com i found this out

    mx3 1.6
left side: outboard spline 26 inboard spline 24
right side: outboard spline 26 inboard spline 26 & 2 blank

    Protege LX
left side: outboard spline 26 inboard spline 26
right side: outboard spline 26 inboard spline 24 & 2 blank

    Protege 4wd
left side: outboard spline 26 inboard spline 24
right side: outboard spline 26 inboard spline 26 & 2 blank

does anyone know another place that tells spline counts? and what is the 2 blank? is that the metal clip that goes around the axle and kind of clicks it into place? if it says 2 blank there are two clips and no mention means only one clip?

I'm trying to make my mx-3 awd using the GTR trans and intermediate shaft but need to make sure i get the right spline axles. i was told the 4wd axles are same from 91 protege to gtx to gtr so is there anyone that can tell me for sure the spline counts on these?

yeah all 4wd axles are the same.

24+2 blank means there are two splines missing.. but its the same as 26 spline basically.

so does that mean the 4wd left side female can have a "28 spline" or a "26 & 2 blank" spline?

it seems kind of odd that the 4wd right side going into the trans is smaller than the FWD model

also do you know if that spline count mentioned for the 4wd pro is correct? cause i can't find another source to confirm rock autos numbers

I have a pic somewhere that compares a FWD pass side and 4WD pass side. the 4WD is MUCH smaller. There is no reason to get it if you're making power, its just another chance to break. You're stuck with the driver side, since its so short. I'm 99% sure you've got the spline count right for the 4WD.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

I got confirmation on the passanger side still not sure on the driver side tranny spline but hopefully it is right. guess we'll see once i get them confirmed i'm going to see if i can talk ryan into making a sticky about it or put it in some kind of FAQ

i can't use the fwd one though cause i need the 26 and 2 blank or 28 female end the fwd is only 24 plus 2 or 26

really? that's weird. my last pass axle was the fwd, and the new one is the 4wd. the jack shaft is the same too. hmmm.

ok first off you read what i said wrong...

26+2 blank = 26 spline with two missing splines

and second i dont think those counts are right

I could go pull my axles for a true 4wd count....I'd just hate to thought

well corksport called me today and said that the GTR splines are 28 so i need a female end that is either 28 or 26 + 2 blank

and corksport also told me the AWD needed a longer intermediate shaft so i'm using a GTR shaft

                            yeah they are

couldnt you have just counted the splines on your intermediate shaft??

idk why you are so worried, its been said many a time that GTR = GTX = 4wd as far as axles go

the reason i'm so worried is cause my car is 5 hours away i ahven't been able to touch it since november, i really need axles bad but the last set i ordered weren't right even though i ordered AWD axles they didn't even have a female end and since i couldn't just walk over and check the spline i needed to know for sure the numbers before i ordered again
