clutch line question for the bp- bpt mx3 dudes.

ok so i managed to drive the car around the block until the clutch pedal went straight to the floor. i noticed a puddle on the car with brake fluid.i check the slave cylinder and its leaking so i go ahead and get the rebuild kit from autozone for like 8 bucks and its sealed nice. Now i go to bleed the clutch and i still get no pedal, its dead. i noticed a master cylinder type lookin thing behind the battery against the firewall. what is that? and could that be my problem? when i bleed it, air comes out sumtimes , than sumtimes fluid does come out but the pushrod inside doesnt seem to push against the tranny to engage the clutch.Did you guuys use the slave cylinder from ur old 1.6L or what? Thats what i am runing now and was just wondering maybe the rod isnt long enough? its weird tho because i drove the car around the block and it seemed fine before. outa no were it just went.
sorry for the long post . lol thanks

That thing behind the battery is the master clutch cylinder... it could be hooped. Easy to change... i believe it's two bolts.

The slave clutch cylinder is the one you rebuilt... yes, they are cheap which you might wanna replace for an EGT/ProLX one that will work with the tranny.

If you get air outta the bleeder, keep pumpin'... if not, you might wanna replace whatever the air is escaping from.

are the salve cylinders the same between the escort gt protege lx and mx3? maybe the piston inside that pushes the fork is shorter?
