    Engine Degreasing

Hey guys what do you use to clean your engine compartment, i know that i could use a powerful degreaser. But is it dangerous to use a pressure washer to rinse it? Im thinkin on cleanin it out and doin some detail work

The biggest problem i run into with high pressure, is the water getting down the spark plug holes...other than that ive never had a problem that hasn't gone away when the engine was warmed up and dried off with engine heat.

I have used a lot of degreasers, from the el-cheap-o at the parts store to greased lightning and purple power(passion?). They all work decently but seem to leave residue on painted surfaces, such as valve covers.

In light of all that the BEST, I mean BEST degreaser I have ever used is Honda-Bright. You get it at the parts counter at any Honda dealer. It is as strong if not stronger than purple power and WILL NOT leave residue/corrosion on aluminum and will not leave residue on painted surfaces. I HIGHLY recommend it. I have used it with great success on my own cars, and cars I have sold.

      Hey Whats Up Man???

I Am A Car Detailer Here At Bentley / Ferrari In Atlanta And What We Do Here Is We Spray Degreaser All Over The Engine Then We Turn The Car On And pressure Wash It All Off. We Never Had Any Problems At All.

^ uh... (kind of lazy today, I didn't want to type that lol) Anyways, I use this purple ( ) degreaser that sells at Wal-mart. and what I do is I go to the carwash, and the first thing to do is spray the whole engine bay (covering the electric components with a rag, oh and engine off but warm) then I rinse it and dry it off with a rag. Results are like it's a new engine bay

bucket of water, with a bunch of dish soap in it, and an SOS pad. scrub it all down by hand. its the best way IMO. but it takes an effort obviousely.

that greased lightning is good stuff but dont let it sit on your hands for too long because it eats your skin away

                              I'm buying parts i don't need, With money I don't have, To impress people I don't know.

Some people are like slinkies. They're not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
