    KL fitment in a BF?

Now I know it would be "wrong" of me to remove the perfectly fine B6 SOHC from my 82,500 323, but after seeing/hearing Dan[Sac]'s KL-ZE swap in his BG 323, and showing my brother the video, my brother said "we could do that to your 323", jokingly.

Then I got to thinking...basically the only thing I hate about my 323 is that it's slow and boring. A KL, even just a DE, would be like twice the power and really wake it up. lol My brother always has KLs and KL parts cars at his shop so finding one and the parts isn't an issue at all.

I know it's a fairly easy swap in a BG, but has anyone even tried it in a BF? As the car would still be my "nice and reliable car"(a term that is really meaningless to me right now because I've proven to myself that I can mod my cars and still have them reliable), I'd want A/C and basically a dead stock KL with stock exhaust(MX-3 exhaust?).

    I don't know...just an idea. Opinions?

do it. Just like doing a BP swap into a BF, you'll have to fab some mounts to hold it, but it'll fit. after that, its just hooking it all up. Anyone that's done a BF Bp swap, call 'em up. See where this is going?

Axles may be difficult, as the last guy I knew who BPT'ed his '88 GTX, he had custom axles made for the BPT tranny to the hubs.

soo, custom axles, modding the BF mounts for BP mounting. Done. Piece of pie, easy as cake.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

Haha well my brother has his own big plans, not a turbo FE3 truck, but a Kia FE3 2200, FE3 '79 626, he was going to put a built FE3 in his '88 MX-6 but I don't know...he told me he just picked up a Turbo II rear suspension/diff setup and had me guess which vehicle it would go on. I guess wrong, he said his MX-6. LOL Years down the road...the car put out 279whp and 320ft lbs on the dyno 2 weeks ago with the F2T. He has a '93 MX-6 that's a ZE, and he also has a '85 RX-7 that is either going to get a 2nd gen 13B non-turbo that's modded, or he was possibly thinking 20B N/A. Again, years down the road because he still has to run his business.

So I guess I'll talk to him about the swap in the 323 and see if he agrees with it and when he'd want to try it. Could be a while. I gotta do something with that car because it's so slow and boring, it just isn't me anymore.

Could...but hell I'd rather do a KL...have more power, smoother running engine, and that awesome sound.

I dunno, might not do anything with the car.

Well I'm still thinking about it. I still want to do it but it's a lot of work and stuff...and the car is perfectly fine the way it is, it's just slow as hell and boring. My brother has his own projects to deal with, plus his business, so his time is pretty well used up - he helped me with the BPT swap in the Protege so I think I've used my allotment of his time for the year. I'll see if he gets some time or if I can have someone else help me(he has lots of KL powered friends) with it, but it would still have to be done at his shop. I'll definitely post up if it does happen.
