NH Motor Speeday on Monday 4/14

I'm doing a track day this Monday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. If anyone is interested in road racing, wants to see cool cars, or wants to see the baddest piece-of-**** Protege in New England (), feel free to stop by if you have time. I'll be there from about 8am to 5pm. There's no charge to watch or anything like that; you just need to sign a waiver.

If you'd like a ride on the track, that can probably also be arranged, though I can't promise anything. You'll need a helmet.

Yeah, I know. Friggin' Monday track days. Later this summer I hope to be doing track days with another association--one that holds events on the weekend. I remember a few other NE people saying they were interested in this stuff, but it's hard to justify taking a day off work if you're not actually driving.

If you're interested, my friend is going to be at Lime Rock tomorrow. I don't know if I'm going to take the ride down there with him just to watch (car still needs a few tweaks and I can't afford the entry fee anyway), but if you're inclined to go, I could be persuaded to head down.

I wouldn't mind seeing your car too. Escorts that do the 1/4 faster than my VR-4 are obviously awesome.

That is ...cool. I'd love to go too, just to watch.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

It would be a bit of a drive for you, but nothing that I haven't done before.

How's your car doing these days?

ohh, the car needs me to finish the ecu harness, and that's all. I've just been too busy, and its getting worse, moving in a month... going to be a few sleepless days coming up.

Staying in the area or leaving MT? I was actually just telling a few coworkers yesterday about our drive, our dinner with you--and about the roadkill laws you were telling us about. I'm really itching to make another cross-country drive, at a more leisurely pace.

I'll be staying in MT, just moving around town. Funny story about roadkill....coming back from Seattle last month, a little white riced civic hatch races past my buddies and I. we were thinking "ya know, everytime I've thought about racing the speeder, a cop catches us or wildlife, lets see which it'll be"

lo and behold, the turkeys we saw on the side of the road going to Seattle, had a run in with him, 5 miles down the road. A nice smear across 2 lanes into the shoulder, and him picking feathers outa the cracked bumper

                We still laugh about turkeys

Well, all you assholes who didn't go missed a pretty goofy track day.

I busted 2 front strut mounts, my exhaust (broke clean off in 2 places), and a wheel. My summer/track wheels have been 15x6 aluminum miata wheels for a few years now. Yesterday I snapped 4 of 5 spokes going into turn 2a. Now I have a great track day trophy.

Yep, I'll post 'em tonight. I meant to do it yesterday, but I forgot.

The damn thing snapped on me between turn 1 and turn 2a, so I had to hobble around for almost a full lap. After it broke, one of my track buddies lent me his spare wheels with RA-1s. The protege is a machine with the BP, Pacesetter, and competition tires.

I'm going to a 2-day event at the Glen at the end of the month. By then I'll have made myself a nice custom catback and advanced the ignition timing a bit. And I've already arranged to buy a set of new wheels with Avon Tech RAs. Now we'll see what's what.

Last year I was running about a 2:36-37 with a 240K-mile SOHC engine and BFG G-force sports. The Spec Miata record is 2:19 and a decent ITB time is 2:26-28.

I'll bet that with the BP and the Avons (supposedly grippier than the RA-1), I can hit or best that ITB time.

It was on the left rear. I think it busted when I loaded up that side turning in for turn 2a.

Thanks for the offer on the strut mounts, but I bought new ones and replaced them in the paddock on Monday. Thank god I've wrenched on this car enough that I thought nothing of just renting spring compressors at autozone and getting to work. Took me about 45 minutes to do both.
