    B6DE to BP swap Q

So no one on mx-3.com is responding over there.

    Question is:

When going from 1.6dohc to 1.8dohc, you can just swap powerplant over, run the extra wires for vics/disti, and change the ECU, correct? You can run the car with the stock 1.6dohc air flow meter?

I really need to know this, as i might be selling my BP harness.

    Thanks.

    JACK.

I changed everything over when I did it, including the harness. It is easier to swap in the BP into the mx-3 with the 1.6 SOHC engine and that engine is the one where you just need a couple wires. The DOHC harness is a lot different from the BP harness and if you are pulling the engine anyway, it is simple to do a harness swap. I am on aim too, so if you have any questions, you can pm me or hit me up on there.

Ya you are correct, U can use the stock harness. You might have to change ur fuel rail harness as for i had to when i did the swap from b6-bp in my mx. Easy tho!

Hope you have a big bottle of Tylenol... you're gonna need it if you wanna rewire.

I personally had a bad experience since mine was some stupid OBDII hybrid cause it was 1996... plus the wires on the plugs did not match what was on the plugs from the EGT harness I had.

Either get a Protege harness or a SOHC harness... pull your DOHC out, and slide the new one in. Do this before your engine goes in so that you can stand in the engine back and clip the harness back in.

Trust me, if you have to repin pop a could Tylenol first then go at it.

Maybe check those 95-98 Protege's... those had BP's with MAF right?
