thats right, i'm looking for a moped. old and cheap is good, the ones that look like bicycles instead of like space ships. local would be even better.

Spaceships? Cua, cua, cua, cua. That sounded funny. I'm looking for the same thing but here in Miami. I even want it to look ugly to deter someone from stealing it. I need it to daily park my car outside the airport at the begining of the work day, drive the scooter in there('cause parking is free for motorbikes)and come back out and drive my car home at the end of the work day. I would leave the scooter at the parking lot overnight. That's why the uglier the better as long as it works perfectly.

i ended up finding an 83 honda PA50 hobbit for $135... needed a little work but now it runs perfectly. good luck on your search. from what i researched, the old honda two stroke scooters/mopeds are some of the most reliable you can get.

people will steal things just to steal them, good condition or no.
In my old neighborhood when you had something to throw away that the garbage people wouldn't take, like a couch, you just put it outside with a "for sale .cheap" sign. And leave the house for more than an hour and it won't bee there. It could be covered in cat piss and blood. They'd still take it.

I'd probably kill the cat for pissing on my couch too but I think I'd take it outside first. That would set a pretty good example for the other cats though. You might be on to something. I wonder if that works for dogs digging in the garden?

Ofcourse, we all know that. However, the uglier, the smaller the pool of thieves becomes. I see a couple there on a daily basis and they don't get stolen but they look like crap. It's too well lit but a nice looking one might inspire someone to feel it makes the risk a bit more worthwhile: It might just tip the scale.

So did you sell it or not end up getting it to work?

in the US it depends on the state.

here i dont need a liscence, insurance, reg.... nothing. they consider it a "bicycle with a helper motor" as long as its 50cc or smaller. that is unless the seat height is below a certain height (those stupid mini bike things) then they are illegal.

in MA you have to get a moped sticker, it looks like a reg sticker you put on the corner of your plate for a car, except all you get is the sticker... no plate.
