b6sohc to bp or b6de swap Qs

seems no one has any BP/b6de swap info for the BF.

just wondering what it would take to install a bp.

also wondering if a b6de (b6 dohc) swap would be easier.

a friend of mine is wondering.

    thanks...

    JACK.

A B6de would be easier, since its basically a bolt in, drop in I do believe.
BPT requires some modification to the mounts, engine wiring, ecu, etc. I know I missing something.

Ahh, ok. so there is custom mounts that have to be made for a BP swap.

i was suggesting a b6de swap anyways, since it would be a nice 30hp boost. slap an intake, header, exhaust, bump the timing, and an afpr you'll be lookin at 15+ hp bump.

Think the b6sohc clutch will be sufficient for a b6de though? or are they the same clutch?

The clutch is different, but the sohc tranny and clutch set up should work just fine.

i'm sure my friend will want to go with what's drop on, i know i would too. i'll recommend the b6de swap and go from there.

i'm talking about a b6de from an mx3...it'll still fit right? doesn't have to be of a certain generation?

            thanks guys.

Might be small differences.. wiring is quite possibly different... i'd imagine it is.. the only real drop-in plug-in is the same motor. oil lines and etc may be different also. not trying to sway you away from it...

It's funny that you mention this, I had the B6 SOHC in my 323 and swapped to a B6DE and the world changed for me! I did the complete swap as in engine, harness, and tranny just to be safe, but it should drop right in for you even though it's different generations.

I'm trying to get my Genie header on right now, but every shop is charging me $200-$250 because of the EGR situation.

                Good luck on the swap!

BP swap into BF 323 you need:
                  bp motor with harness, afm
                  B6 flywheel + clutch
                  b6 tranny
mess with the wiring that goes to your dashboard to get tach and coolant sensor working
bring car to exaust shop after you are done
I didn't have to modify motor mounts, I just used a big shoe horn.

well any clue if a 94 B6 will drop right in? we were going to swap the full harness and ecu so we could use the updated coolant sensors and the better intake manifold (at least i think it'd be better for flow)

It should, I never did that swap before. can you use your old computer + sensors, just swap the injectors, dist. and other parts?

For those that did the B6DE swap to replace a B6, do you mind answering a few questions in this thread for me? http://www.wihandyman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37792
I have a couple of Q's about the harness and trans before I begin.

It was mentioned above that axles might need to be replaced - can this be confirmed?

                        Thanks!

I have a question. what about the n/a BP out of a 95 escort? will that drop in fairly easy, and can i use the B6 SOHC tranny, clutch, and axles with that?

Ok so im assuming that the BPde out of a 95 escort is the same as the BPT just with out the turbo? I got a little confused there. I just wanted to clarify. thanks!
