    EGT Cyl 2 & 4 Fouled Plugs

    Heres my problem...car starts & runs but very roughly....spark plugs 2 & 4 very gas fouled(2 min run time) plugs 1 & 3 normal....


    Could use some help with a diagnosis....Still can't get my machine to run smoothly......at a previous post I thought my ground wires from the computer were bad...(ground to fuel injectors) so i spliced in new ones...lotta work for nothing...

    the computer in this car was bought from a junk yard
    i have 2 distrubuters and swapping them makes no difference

    could my fuel injector relay be bad?? only feeding power to two cyls...the diagram shows all fuel injectors get power at the same time via a white/red striped wire ....

    I have a MECS-1 (mazda engine control) diagram on previous posts... this car is killing me...help please (91' Escort GT)

    have the injectors been cleaned and flow tested?

      Hey , thats a good idea...i have 10 or so injectors I have been swapping around......Always,always the 2 & 4 cyl come up fouled ; 1 & 3 normal...

      cleaned and flow tested sounds like a good way to go ....I am convinced these "Denso" injectors are a long lasting product...& worth the $ on your suggestion..thanks

        Switch the injectors from the bad cylinders to the good ones. If the problem travels to the other ones, the problem is your injectors. If it stanys the same, then I would lean towards your computer.

        I have a computer from a 1991 somewhere at my dad's house. If you find out the trouble is the computer, I could hook you up.

          Thanks Tom....I would be interested in that computer.....perhaps i should have swapped the Fuel-Rail wiring harness as that may have "welded shut" as the original computer imploded...too long to explain...Tim

            You need to confirm that it is not the injectors first.

            That is what I would do.

              Check to make sure 2 and 4 injectors are pulsing.I think they share the same transisitor in the computer,it may be grounding them keeping them open all the time and dumping fuel.

                      did you get it fixed? If your plugs are fouled, that would indictate an ignition problem, such as corrision inside the cap, or arcing wires.

                        thanks all for the input...I sold the car for $205(junk yard)..have never been so sad in my life ...i had to move,no place(solid tarmac) to work on car at new house..,....i had a bad wiring harness,or bad computer??.....being addicted to car repair is not like drug or booze addiction...all i have is a zillion pics of a car that was my friend..i have many good parts but can't bear to part with them just yet,,

                            Around here, if you sell it to a tow truck driver for a junk yard, that driver sells it to any of 50+ junkyards in the area. Unless he sold it to a specific junkyard, you may not ever know which one has it.

                              You should have offered it to people on here for that same amount when you found out what they would pay for it. You could have offered it up for the same price.
