Is there any differences between the J-spec and Australian Ecu's?

Yes there are. The hp number kicked around of 185 is for the j-spec. The Australian car has less. I believe something like 170 or so. The speculation is that australians don't maintain their cars as thoroughly as the Japanese and their gas is only like 91 octane like here.

I havent figured this out yet. I have seen escorts and proteges with both bp-09's and bp-10's. All 91, all 1.8 mtx's...its still a mystery to me...
