    e-brake?

i have a 95 egt, im trying to get my e-brake working properly, i replaced everything in the rear, rotor, caliber, and pads, about 3 months ago. everything was workin good up till a month ago, i noticed my pull handle had some slop, but when i hit a bump it tighted up, now their is no holding with the e-brake. i checked the pads thay had very little wear, so i just adjusted the e-brake at the cal. now it holds , but now it wont let go eather . lots of slop at he handle and tight at the cal. if i bump the arm that the cable slips into on the cal. (on both sides) it releases, and becomes thight at the handle. im thinking its in the cables, i cant beleave the arms on the cal. have froze up allready. what do yall think?

unhook the cable at both ends and see how hard it is to slide

there is a single cable about 8" long that goes from the handle to a steel block.. under the car, the return spring also connects to this block.

from there it splits to one cable for each side... so you can unhook it at the steel block, and the caliper, and slide them around to figure out which one is screwing up.

Definitely sound like a cable problem. You could probable check the cables without unhooking them, if you have someone who can pull the e-brake lever for you. One person to pull the lever, the other to follow the cable and look for the problem. I have the same problem, same symptoms too, the cable juction area sounds like the most likely place for a problem to occur. Hope this is helps and good luck.

ps. I'm not trying to step on any toes, I just want to help.

I live my life a quarter pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, I'm free. I need FRIES! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and I need them tonight. You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
