Ok, so, here's the deal.
My '88 gtx was running really well, until one afternoon , while doing my regular checkup I noticed the oil was a bit low, so I topped it up a bit. a day or two later, while driving it, I noticed a fair bit of white smoke coming out the exhaust. Since then, I've gathered the follwing information.
1) It only smokes when the engine is warm, and mostly under idle, and for the first few seconds of excelleration
2) I slightly overfilled the oil, I have since drained some out, and took it for a short spin, it was still buring oil.
3) Passed the compression test, all cylinders were at normal.
I'm thinking maybe it just needs to sit for a while, or that maybe I just need to drive it a bit. What do you guys think?
I should add, it didn't burn oil before I added it that I could tell.
